Throughout the history of both Anglo-Saxon and Latin music there have been those songs that were a total and resounding success but with the particularity that they were songs that were almost a product of luck. Previously I have talked about this but this time I will only focus on the Latin or Spanish genre because yes, there are a few songs that sounded too much in the radios, clubs and parties but they were just that, a stroke of "luck" of the artists in question.
Do not be confused that because they have been One Hit Wonders they are low quality and bad songs, nothing to do with it. On the contrary, they are songs that even today are remembered with much nostalgia and considered icons in their respective eras. Without further ado, let's hear what were some of the most important songs that only meant a single commercial success in the musical life of the following singers or groups.
- Son By Four - A Puro Dolor.
I think that if we are going to talk about One Hit Wonders this song is the top of the top. When these Puerto Ricans released this song they never imagined the huge success they would have, well no artist knows it but they can sense it, but the magnitude of A Puro Dolor was such that it was at number one on the Billboards Hot 100 list for more than 20 weeks, that a song in Spanish achieved that is a lot of merit. I remember back in the 2000's when this song came out, the truth is that it could be heard EVERYWHERE, even Son By Four released a version in English and salsa taking advantage of the wave of popularity of the song that also led them to a Grammy nomination. Nowadays I sometimes listen to it because I consider it an icon and because it is a brutal song, let's not fool ourselves. This group never again hit a song like this and today they are making Christian music.
- Gianluca Grignani - Mi Historia entre tus dedos.
With this song I come to unlock a memory that may have been deep in your mind. Released 18 years ago, that is to say in 1994, this great song was another one that we listened to everywhere. I find these phenomena in music very curious because these artists manage to reach the top in terms of recognition with a song that revolutionized everything in its path and yet it was a singer who was lost from the public eye quickly. They say it's easy to get there, it's hard to stay there. Gianluca, who is Italian by the way, sold almost 3 million copies with this song, one that is an acoustic ballad taken to pop with a very heartfelt and powerful lyric, a typical story of heartbreak that has touched us all at least once. In short, a great song that was undoubtedly a hit but that time has taken care of leaving behind.
- Los Cantantes - El Venao.
No, this is not a Wilfrido Vargas song. I say this because it is common for many people to think that, which I don't really understand. The thing is that this song, like all the ones we will hear here, was an explosion in the musical panorama because logically it is something that no one expects and this merengue is proof of that. It is not a normal one or the one known by all, to this one its composer added remarkable changes such as rap and techno that eventually would begin to be the norm or the everyday. Who hasn't sung Venao? Who hasn't danced to Venao? - I think everyone and that is precisely what made this group great. But the most impressive thing is that it is a song full of satire and humor that talks about infidelities, zero depth but it fulfilled its purpose, which was none other than to hit everywhere. Los Cantantes never hit another song but they don't need to, they will always have El Venao.
- Banda Blanca - Sopa de Caracol.
"What a very soup" is what the chorus of this iconic song really says. The song has its origins in Belize but it was these Hondurans who made it known around the world. Such was the impact of this song that it was also number one on the Billboards for more than two weeks in a row, something that for the characteristics of the song is undoubtedly something really impressive. Today I do not know anyone who does not know this song but what happens is that they do not know its authors until today they already know who owns this song with its catchy rhythm. I would dare to say that this song has one of the most emblematic choruses of all Latin music, without exaggerating at all and it has sounded and continues to do so in such a way that I think it is already part of the DNA of the entire Latin community.
- Nek - Laura no está.
Another unlocked memory and that happens to be from another Italian artist. Nek in his time was a very well known artist at the end of the nineties, more specifically in 1997 when this song was released. The curious thing is that when this song is released for the first time it is in its original language, Italian, but undoubtedly it was the Spanish version that swept all the charts both in Spain and Latin America. It must be said that Nek continues to be heard in Italy but the level of success he had on this side of the ocean was never experienced again. Something happens with Italian singers who become so famous on this side of the world, maybe it's the accent and the way they sing but they always manage to position themselves at the top. "Laura no está" I know it is not as famous as the previous ones but here we are not making a list of that and I think this song fits perfectly with the topic of the day. We have all sung it at some point and the fact that it was Nek's debut and farewell in these lands is enough for it to be on this list.

- Chocolate - Mayonesa.
Did you know that this group is Uruguayan and that a large part of the rhythm of this song comes from a sound from that country? - Uruguayan candombe. It is a song that compares the process of making mayonnaise with love, a bit weird but still the success was absurd.
- El Símbolo - 1,2,3.
These Argentinians knew how to make a totally inorganic song in something that was an avalanche at the end of the nineties. The music and lyrics, which invited everyone to dance, are still listened to today at the "crazy hours" of any party.
- Grupo Climax - Mesa que más aplauda.
If we talk about inorganic and simple lyrics, this one takes all the awards. Another song that moved in the Billboards Latin Top Charts for more than six consecutive weeks. Undoubtedly a worldwide phenomenon, so much so that it is referenced in the movie Shrek 2.
