¿Que es el Rock? - What is rock?
El Rock es un género que nació en los años “50” de su antecesor el “Rock and Roll” y fue el pionero de muchos subgéneros que hoy en día escuchamos con regularidad. Fue un género que revolucionó en la cultura Americana y del Reino Unido.
El rock es un género que fusiona el “Blues”, el “Country” y el ya mencionado “Rock and Roll”. A medida de que fue creciendo este género se fue nutriendo de otros géneros y subgéneros como el Blues Eléctrico, el Folk, el Jazz, incluso la Música Clásica. Las letras de este género se centran en el amor pero también tienen un amplio rango de temas como la sociedad, problemas personales y la política.
Como había mencionado antes, el Rock fue el pilar de muchos otros géneros y sub-géneros musicales como el Rock Psicodélico, el Glam Rock, el Rock Alternativo, el Heavy Metal, y el Punk, siendo uno de los géneros que ha revolucionado en la humanidad. Su cronología es muy extensa, e invito a la gente que quiera profundizar en el tema que lo busque ya que gracias a este género musical muchas bandas tanto del pasado como del presente no hubieran existido y no hubiesen podido ser inspiración hasta para artistas de otros géneros como el Pop.
Rock is a genre that was born in the 50s from its predecessor "Rock and Roll" and was the pioneer of many subgenres that we listen to regularly today. It was a genre that revolutionized American and UK culture.
Rock is a genre that combines "Blues", "Country" and the already mentioned "Rock and Roll". As this genre grew, it was nourished by other genres and subgenres such as Electric Blues, Folk, Jazz, even Classical Music. The lyrics of this genre focus on love but they also have a wide range of themes such as society, personal problems and politics.
As I mentioned before, Rock was the mainstay of many other musical genres and sub-genres such as Psychedelic Rock, Glam Rock, Alternative Rock, Heavy Metal, and Punk, being one of the genres that has revolutionized humanity. Its chronology is very extensive, and I invite people who want to delve into the subject to look for it since, thanks to this musical genre, many bands, both past and present, would not have existed and could not have been an inspiration even for artists of other genres. like Pop.
¿Donde se originó? - Where it originated?
Su origen fue como ya había mencionado en la década de los “50” en los Estados unidos y en 1960 llega la invasión británica a este género con bandas como “The Beatles”, “The Rolling Stones”, “The Who”, entre otros. Tiempo después hubo una revolución de amor donde los hippies y el Rock Psicodélico estuvieron de la mano para llevar el mensaje del amor y la paz al mundo. En los “70´s” llegaron bandas como “Black Sabbath”, “Led Zeppelin” y “Queen” que tomaron otros elementos como la Opera o el Soul para dar nacimiento a temas de rock más melódicos, artísticos, salvajes y veloces.
Daremos un salto a los 90 donde el Rock sorprendió increíblemente con la aparición de nuevas bandas británicas y géneros como el “Grunge” y el “Rock Industrial” siendo este último quien daría pie a la música electrónica, bandas como “Guns N’ Roses”, “Metallica”, “Nirvana”, entre otras hicieron su entrada al mundo.

Instrumentación - Instrumentation
El rock tiene una conformación básica de voz, guitarra eléctrica, bajo, teclado, y batería. En la actualidad se le han venido agregando otros instrumentos como sintetizadores y cajas de ritmos.
Rock has a basic conformation of vocals, electric guitar, bass, keyboard, and drums. Currently other instruments such as synthesizers and drum machines have been added to it.
El rock en Latinoamérica – Rock in Latin America
No se sabe a ciencia cierta cómo llegó el rock a Latinoamérica o en qué país comenzó todo, sin embargo, si conocemos que al igual que en Estados Unidos sufrió diferentes cambios que hicieron que este género tuviera otras variaciones del mismo, influencias del Calypso, el Chachacha o el Mambo fueron ritmos latinos que hicieron del rock un género más bailable y movido. Un ejemplo de rock latino muy popular entre las personas fue el tema “la bamba” que es una canción tradicional mexicana pero se versiono al Rock, existe una película del mismo nombre que tuvo mucho éxito donde trata de un campesino llamado Ritchie Valens que hace de todo para poder ser una estrella del Rock and Roll, en dicha película se escucha la versión más popular de la “Bamba” creada por la agrupación “Los Lobos”.

It is not known for sure how rock came to Latin America or in which country it all started, however, if we know that just as in the United States it underwent different changes that made this genre have other variations of it, influences from Calypso, the Chachacha or Mambo were Latin rhythms that made rock a more danceable and lively genre. An example of Latin rock very popular among people was the song "la bamba" which is a traditional Mexican song but it was covered in Rock. There is a film of the same name that was very successful where it is about a farmer named Ritchie Valens who plays all to be able to be a Rock and Roll star, in this film you can hear the most popular version of the "Bamba" created by the group "Los Lobos"( The link is above).
En 1969 se publica el primer álbum de la banda “Santana” (Banda del guitarrista mexicano “Carlos Santana”) donde aparece por primera vez el término “Latin Rock” donde los medios de comunicación definen este género como una variación del rock pero con influencias de ritmos latinos e influencias de sonidos afroamericanos como el Soul, Jazz, Blues, entre otros con bases claramente de rock.
Cuando llega el punk al mundo en Latinoamérica despiertan muchas otras bandas que dieron hasta su último esfuerzo para hacer de este género algo global y hacer que su gente la disfrute tanto como ellos.
Pero fue en los 90’s donde el rock encuentra su lugar en Latinoamérica y se populariza con bandas como Maná, Caifanes, Café Tacuba, Los Prisioneros, Enanitos verdes, Soda Stereo, entre otros.
Las fusiones del rock latino son imprevistas e ilimitadas, géneros como la Salsa, el Merengue, las Rancheras, o la Cumbia, son algunas de las fusiones que tiene este género en latino américa.

The Beatles:
Fue la banda de rock inglesa más exitosa en su época y alabadas de su época, también una de las primeras en dar a conocer este genero musical.

Queen:
Es una banda de Rock británica que dio sus inicios en 1970, canciones como “We Will Rock You”, “Bohemian Rhapsody” o “I Want To Break Free” fueron temas que revolucionaron el rock e inspiraron a muchas otras bandas a incursionar en este género.

Guns N' Roses:
Nació en el año 1985 y fue fundado por su vocalista Axel rose y el guitarrista Izzy Stradlin. Se considera que esta banda fue de las más exitosas e influyentes de la historia.

Led Zeppelin:
Fue una banda británica fundada en el año 1968 por el guitarrista Jimmy Page. Fueron número 14 en la revista Rolling Stone como artistas más grandes de todos los tiempos en el año 2004.
It was a British band founded in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page. They were number 14 in Rolling Stone magazine as the greatest artists of all time in 2004.
Soda stereo:
Es una banda argentina que nació en 1982 pero se popularizó en la década de los 90's, fueron tendencia y posiblemente el primer grupo en conseguir éxito masivo en Latinoamérica.
It is an Argentine band that was born in 1982 but became popular in the 90's, they were trending and possibly the first group to achieve massive success in Latin America.
Maná:
Es una banda de rock Mexicana formada en el año 1986. Yo personalmente diría que en mi país es donde se consume mucho su música ya que para nuestra nación fue una de las primeras bandas de rock que llego. Han ganado múltiples premios y son muy reconocidos en toda Latinoamérica.
It is a Mexican rock band formed in 1986. I would personally say that in my country their music is consumed a lot since for our nation it was one of the first rock bands that arrived. They have won multiple awards and are highly recognized throughout Latin America.
