L'altro giorno mi chiama Alberto della VSAdvice Music, e mi dice: "ho da fare un video, mi serve un bel lavoro" ed eccomi qui a presentarvi finalmente la mia ultima produzione video.
Ebbene, questo è "nu lavoro di fino.." difficile in un primo momento perchè si tratta di musica "pop-lirica" ed io non sono un esperto di quel genere musicale.
Avendo però lavorato per il New York City Opera come fotografo di scena per diversi anni e con due tour alle spalle con l'opera "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" ho collezionato un bel bagaglio tecnico nella produzione di video e fotografica per il mondo della lirica.
Inoltre dopo un accurata ricerca, uno studio delle parole della canzone e una panoramica agli interpreti sono riuscito a mettere insieme una storia interessante. Ho ricreato tramite le immagini video un movimento che richiama le onde del mare come fosse un dondolio. Tra "una meditazione" e l'altra sono entrato in diretta connessione con quello che è poi lo spirito della canzone per offrirvi questa chicca.
The other day Alberto (my producer from VSAdvice Music) calls me on the phone and tells me: "Hi Mario, look i have a VIP job for you, do you feel like doing it, it's pop-lyric style, if you feel in the mood the job is perfect for your "skills"
Obviously, I'm not a big expert of "pop-music" but i had a long experience with "lirica-world" I was on the road with the New York City Opera for 2 seasons of the "Barber of Seville"
The feeling i had when i watched the videos from Rodolfo Maria Gordini, the interpreter of the song, was like jumping back in the 90" being on a bus all over America with plenty of music and dreams. All dreams came true.. Here I am after 35 years shooting a video on lake Maggiore, precisely in Stresa. Beautiful location.

Abbiamo girato l'intero video in Hotel, al Dino di Baveno, lago Maggiore, splendida location... uno sballo, siamo riusciti a girare tutte le scene del video in meno di mezza giornata. Ovviamente il cantante, Rodolfo Maria Gordini, essendo un "animale da palcoscenico" con un'esperienza alle spalle da brivido, non ha avuto nessun problema a donare spazio alle immagini rendendole vibranti. Appena tornato da un tour in Kazakistan è arrivato puntualissimo sulla scena e si è lasciato "riprendere" con un'umiltà unica, davvero un gran piacere lavorare con lui..

Il compositore Mauro Lo Sole ha partecipato alle riprese con grande impegno e serietà. I risultati si possono vedere chiaramente, il testo è accattivante, frutto di una musa ispiratrice, la moglie di Lo Sole chge è anche l'attrice principale del video ed ovviamente completa òa canzone con nuna copèertina magnifica..
Ma quanto amoreeeeee BELLISSIMO!
Molti suggerimenti sono poi arrivati direttamente da lui, come per esempio la scena della rosa bianca sul pianoforte. Poi il suop modo unico di "sorridere" guardando la telecamera era al pari di Robert DeNiro.
La sua particolare "barba" bianca e quella splendida sciarpa, (che suppongo sia il suo "feticcio" di scena") hanno donato leggerezza e solidità all'intero racconto.

The composer Mauro Lo sole, besides the fact that is the "executive producer" as well, created a very nice environment, offering us (me and the singer) the possibility to do anything we like to "sup-up" the footage.
Lyrics were oblivious, inspired by a muse, "the wife of Lo Sole"

As i wrote before, we did the entire video in half a day and in a fantastic location.
Precisely, we were at the Hotel Dino in Baveno.
Rodolfo Maria Gordini, the singer - who just came back from a tour in Kazakistan - arrived in perfect time. After a few words we clicked, the scene was ours.
Never meet such a humble man. Huge reputation, tour all over the world, amazing voice, natural born actor, very sharp, smart, meditative and curios as a cat... my kind of person what else... o yea.. SHARP.. JUST AMAZING... a real "MAESTRO"
