The year 2021 has not really rocked yet, so the melodies of the past year are still buzzing around in my head, for which one band is particularly responsible.
THE QUEERS, a punk band from New Hampshire that has accompanied me for almost 40 years and sweetened my life with their extremely catchy punk songs.
At the end of last year the guys around Joe Queer came back to the studio after a long period of abstinence and had nothing less in mind than to save us.
SAFE THE WORLD was the title of their new album, which made my heart beat faster and made the whole Corona madness forget for a while.
On this album you can hear everything that the band has stood for for decades.
Sugar-sweet melodies that sound as if the Ramones had united with the Beach Boys, short, no-frills punk rock hits, like lots of funny, irreverent and provocative musical pearls, some of which are reminiscent of the old Angry Samoans.
This band with the confusing name that the singer explains as follows:
“We specifically named our band The Queers to piss off the pathetic local art community which sneered down at us. We knew everyone would hate 'The Queers ‘' cause it was such a cool name. Even the local jerks would remember it. " To allegations that the band was sexist and homophobic, he replied: “Fuck the P.C. bullshit. Having a song called 'I want cunt ‘doesn't mean we're sexist, homophobic, racist assholes. The Queers are about having fun - like The Ramones, Angry Samones, and all good punk music is about having fun. As I said, we have a great audience, and we have full confidence that our fans know the difference between obviously tongue-in-cheek satrical punk songs ('I want cunt', 'Gay boy') and a skinhead, white power band singing wistfully about beating up 'fags'. "
... at least managed to I dance carefree through the house and sing along with the hymns wrapped in the three holy chords. 😎
Hardly anyone can do that nowadays.
Since it is not possible to play the new songs live in front of an audience due to the corona pandemic, the gentlemen filmed themselves and published their isolated concert on the Internet.

Das Jahr 2021 hat sich noch nicht so richtig eingerockt, daher schwirren mir noch die Melodien des vergangenen Jahres im Kopf herum, wofür sich besonders eine Band verantwortlich zeigt.

Ende letzten Jahres kamen die Jungs um Joe Queer, nach längerer Abstinenz zurück ins Studio und hatten nicht weniger im Sinn, als uns zu retten.
SAFE THE WORLD betitelten sie ihr neues Album, welches mein Herz höher schlagen ließ und den ganzen Corona Irrsinn für einige Zeit vergessen ließ.
Auf diesem Album gibt es alles zu hören, für was die Band seit Jahrzehnten steht.
Zuckersüße Melodien die klingen, als hätten die Ramones sich mit den Beach Boys vereint, kurze schnörkellose Punkrock Kracher, wie jede Menge lustige, respektlose und provozierende musikalische Perlen, die teils an die alten Angry Samoans erinnern.
Diese Band mit dem verwirrenden Namen, den der Sänger der Band folgendermaßen erklärt:

… hat es jedenfalls geschafft, das ich mal wieder unbeschwert durch die Hütte getanzt bin und die in die drei heiligen Akkorde verpackten Hymnen lauthals mitsang. 😎
Das gelingt heutzutage kaum noch jemand.
Da es wegen der Corona Pandemie nicht möglich ist die neuen Songs live vor Publikum zu spielen, filmten sich die alten Herren selbst und veröffentlichten ihr abgeschottetes Konzert im Internet.
