Hello music lovers! 🎡🎧🎡

What are you listening to in this heat? In addition to #summertunes, the collection of timeless summer hits I posted last week, I'm also listening to some new, freshly released songs.

Maybe some of it will be good for your weekend!

Of course, if you don't like something, feel free to skip it.

Let's get started!

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Jack Johnson - Don't Look Now

Jack Johnson, 47 years old Hawaiian, released his eighth album 'Meet The Moonlight'.
Slide guitars and calm voices convince us that the world and life in it are really good and that we have nothing to worry about.
Is this true?

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Two Shell - Mainframe

Two Shell, the UK duo, new club&bass music icon, are already were many more well-known artists want to be with their third EP. In Legend.
A stratospheric, trippy mix of sounds with a touch of modern urban life with a background of drum'n'bass and nightclubbing and no dubstep. Recommended for all electronic music lovers.

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Weyes Blood - You're No Good

Natalie Laura Mering, the American singer-songwriter better known as Weyes Blood, gave an excellent cover of Linda Ronstadt's song. It is featured on the soundtrack of the new Minions animated film 'The Rise Of Gru'.
There are many other great covers on this soundtrack, it's worth a listen, and this song was the first one that caught my ear.
By the way: did you know that Minions like bananas? Well, I didn't...

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Juzzie Smith - Coolest Harmonica Solo

A new name for me, but did I mention that I really like one-man-band authors?
Well, I heard about this guy recently, and it's really good. Fun and totally sovereign.
A bit longer recording at last month's Grolsch Blues Festival, but with a great sound, definitely worth a listen!

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Certified Trapper - When I Sneeze

I read somewhere, a few days ago, that that's the must-hear rap song of the day. OK, I don't know what it's about (I don't know about rap songs where they sing in various slang that I don't understand), but the melody and the rhythm in the background are pretty good.

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Waleed - SueΓ±os

Born to Puerto Rican parents in Washington DC, but moved to Berlin and London, writing code by day, and exploring electronic music by night. With his self-produced debut EP in 2021, he excited electronic music labels and immediately got all the support he could.
Ecstatic and melodic at the same time, the music, which may sound too heavy at first listen, later develops harmonic tones that don't leave us indifferent.

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Viagra Boys - Troglodyte

I'm following this band from their start. When I first heard them I thought they were from a suburb of London, but later I found out they were actually from Stockholm, Sweden. Their third album, 'Cave World', released at the end of May, seems to me to be their best work yet.
Satire, underpinned by energetic, upbeat beats and riffs, which in each song develops into a disintegration, in fact, an absurd solution to the anomalies of the system we live in. There is no help for us. Recommended.

🎡 🎧 🎀 🎧 🎡

Flock - Expand

London's new jazz scene continues to surprise and delight us with new music that draws on a wide range of traditions that may or may not be jazz-related. Flock is no exception. Actually, it is not a band in the classical sense, but a group of five musicians who came together ad hoc to record an album in a single day of inspired musicianship and improvisation.

The initiative was initiated by vibraphonist and multi-instrumentalist Bex Burch, who leads the band Vula Viel, whose music is based on the sounds of the gyil, a balafon instrument with electronic additions. The other members also have well-known bands and collaborations to their credentials, and all of them play several instruments.

Danalogue from The Comet Is Coming contributes the sounds of various electronic keyboards and synthesizers, Sarathy Korwar takes care of drums and tabla, Al MacSween is at the piano and other keyboards, and Tamar Osborn, who otherwise leads the band Collocutor, plays bass clarinet, flute and soprano saxophone.
Huh, that's complex!
Actually, no. All in all, it sounds very natural and inoffensive. Listen up!

Hmmmm Dont Look Now is my choice for this hot summer days
But surprisingly Waleed did catch me! Had to listen til the end. It reminds me of the Light Sound Festival 2021 in Graz
Greetings to you little island :-)

I'm glad you like something. After all, it's a very diverse selection covering different genres of music. Not everyone listens to everything...
Thank you. Yeah, internet is a bit better, so I'm chating around and doing nothing :)
