Whether as a musician or as an arranger - since 1987, Best has undoubtedly been a highly requested man in the world music scene. Moreover, he knows how to organise sessions like hardly anyone else in the industry, bringing together musicians you would never have thought possible.
Unter seiner Regie haben Jon Hassel, Steven Brown, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, David Torn, Ruichy Sakamoto und Frank Zappa veröffentlicht. Er komponierte Soundtracks für Kino, Fernsehen, Theater, Ballett. Internationale Anerkennung bescherte ihm seine originelle Verwendung elektronischer Instrumente mit dem Jazz und der eng damit verbundenen Weltmusik.
Under his direction, Jon Hassel, Steven Brown, Steve Reich, Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, David Torn, Ruichy Sakamoto and Frank Zappa have all released. Alles begann mit dem Studium zeitgenössischer, klassischer Musik. Danach lehrte er an der Schule des "Percussione e ricerca Ensemble" in Venedig. Dabei befasste er sich intensiv mit der Musik von Komponisten wie E. Varese, J. Cage, S. Reich. T.Riley. Trilock Gurtu und Dave Weckl (beides begnadete Perkussionisten) hatten es ihm insbesondere angetan.
It all began with the study of contemporary classical music. Afterwards he taught at the school of the "Percussione e ricerca Ensemble" in Venice. During this time, he intensively studied the music of composers such as E. Varese, J. Cage, S. Reich. T.Riley. Trilock Gurtu and Dave Weckl (both gifted percussionists) were particularly important to him.
