Who are Club des Belugas anyway and what does nu-jazz mean?
Maxim Illion and Kitty the Bill belong to the hard core of the Belugas. They are joined by "guest musicians" like Reiner Winterschladen, Mickey Neher, Brenda Boykin or Ester Rada.
Nu-jazz refers to a form of classical jazz that is strongly influenced by electronics and so-called lounge music.

Wer sind überhaupt Club des Belugas und was bedeutet Nu-jazz?
Zum harten Kern der Belugas zählen Maxim Illion und Kitty the Bill. Dazu gesellen sich dann “Gastmusiker” wie Reiner Winterschladen, Mickey Neher, Brenda Boykin oder Ester Rada.
Mit Nu-Jazz wird eine Form des klassischen Jazz bezeichnet, die stark von der Elektronik und der sogenannten Lounge-Music beeinflusst.
The formation was founded in Wuppertal in 2002. In the same year, they released the album Caviar at 3 am. This was followed by Minority Tunes in 2003 and Apricoo Soul in 2006.
They continued in roughly the same rhythm, with Zoo Zizaro and Forward.
In 2013, the album The ChinChin Sessions was released with trumpeter Thomas Siffling.
Gegründet wurde die Formation 2002 in Wuppertal. Im gleichen Jahr veröffentlichten sie das Album Caviar um 3 Uhr morgens. Dem folgte 2003 Minority Tunes und 2006 Apricoo Soul.
In etwa dem gleichen Rhythmus ging es weiter mit Zoo Zizaro und Forward.
2013 erschien dann das Album The ChinChin Sessions bei dem der Trompeter Thomas Siffling mitwirkte.
Basically, the Club des Belugas is and remains nevertheless a fantastic live band. This they already proved with well over 300 concerts all over the world. Even a concert tour through the Republic of China was part of it.
Further proof of the band's popularity is the more than four million records they have sold.
Im Grunde genommen ist und bleibt jedoch der Club des Belugas eine fantastische Live-Band. Dies bewiesen sie bereits mit weit über 300 Konzerten auf der ganzen Welt. Sogar eine Konzertreise durch die Volksrepublik China war dabei.
Ein weiterer Beweis für die Popularität der Band sind die mehr als vier Millionen verkaufter Tonträger.
The Belugas' compositions are particularly in demand in the advertising industry, where they are used as background music for commercials, and in TV shows where the focus is on dance. For example, Live to Dance, So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing With the Stars.
