It is certainly not one of the best ideas to simply store spontaneous ideas for narrations or songs unsecured on your smartphone. Ina Forsman can confirm that, as she lost her phone (during a performance in New York), on which the songs for the upcoming album were stored.
And this at a time when, at 24, she was voted the best newcomer in Finland and her album 'Blues Blast' went through the roof.
Es gehört wahrlich nicht zu den besten Ideen, spontane Ideen für Erzählungen oder Songs einfach nur ungesichert auf dem Smartphone abzulegen. Selbiges kann Ina Forsman bestätigen, da ihr (bei einem Auftritt in New York) das Telefon abhanden kam, auf dem die Songs für das kommende Album abgespeichert waren.
Und dies zu einer Zeit, als sie 24-jährig zum besten Newcomer in Finnland gewählt wurde und ihr Album ‘Blues Blast’ durch die Decke stieg.
About the loss of the phone, Ina made the following remarks:
“For a long time I was so angry at myself, but at the end of the day I'm glad I lost my phone. I experienced a little more life - and was able to write better songs with more feeling.”
Because with the second album 'Been Meaning To Tell You', Ina Forsman brings even more feeling from the soul into the recording studio.
Über den Verlust des Handys äußerte sich Ina wie folgt:
“Lange Zeit war ich so wütend auf mich selbst, aber letzten Endes bin ich froh, dass ich mein Telefon verloren habe. Ich habe ein wenig mehr gelebt – und konnte bessere Songs mit mehr Gefühl schreiben.”
Denn mit dem zweiten Album ‘Been Meaning To Tell You’ bringt Ina Forsman noch mehr Gefühl aus der Seele ins Aufnahmestudio.
Ina Forsman writes all the lyrics for her songs herself and is often influenced by incidents in her close environment. For example, in 'Who Hurt You', where she describes the struggle of a friend who tried to free herself from an abusive relationship.
As for the music, she slips more into the role of co-composer. The variety of sounds in her songs is like a rollercoaster ride. From an almost toxic jazz to blues jazz – there is everything.
Ina Forsman schreibt alle Texte für ihre Lieder selbst und lässt sich dabei oft von Begebenheiten in ihrem direkten Umfeld beeinflussen. So zum Beispiel bei ‘Who Hurt You’, wo sie den Kampf einer Freundin beschreibt, die sich aus einer missbräuchlichen Beziehung zu befreien versuchte.
Was die Musik betrifft, schlüpft sie eher in die Rolle der Mitkomponistin. Die Klangvielfalt in ihren Songs gleicht einer Achterbahnfahrt. Von einem fast schon toxischen Jazz bis hin zum Blues-Jazz - es ist alles dabei.
By the way, the young lady was born in Finland (where she also grew up), but although she attracted attention with her music quite early on, she never really made a breakthrough because she stubbornly stuck to her jazz-soul style. Success only came when she went to America via Brussels, where she not only changed record labels but also her producer.
Besides her solo projects, Ina Forsman also tours the country with Layla Zoe and Tasha Taylor as 'Blues Caravan'.
Die junge Dame wurde übrigens in Finnland geboren (wo sie auch aufwuchs), wo sie zwar recht früh mit ihrer Musik auf sich aufmerksam machte, jedoch nie so richtig den Durchbruch schaffte, da sie stur an ihrem Jazz-Soul-Stil festhielt. Der Erfolg stellte sich erst ein, als sie über Brüssel nach Amerika ging, wo sie nicht nur das Plattenlabel, sondern auch den Produzenten wechselte.
Neben ihren Solo-Projekten, tourt Ina Forsman auch mit Layla Zoe und Tasha Taylor als ‘Blues Caravan’ durch die Lande.

She is an incredible singer, her snore voice is exquisite to listen to, she goes through a lot of Blues and Soul, although she accompanies herself musically with elements of Funk and Pop, she keeps her Swing.
