Recording an Album (Day 1)

All of the earning from this post and some future ones will be donated for recording of this album. I hate powering down so i will most probably just buy out hive earned this way.

If you are following me for some time you for sure seen some posts and videos named Vlasto a Sacharíny. Maybe even heard some of their music. So they finally decided to make an album. Me, i never played an instrument (flute and metallophone for like 3 songs in elementary school does not count :) ), so i was there to take some photos and videos. And some fun weekend in Novi Sad is always a welcome one.

So day one started around 9AM. Everybody that knows me, knows that i am not a person for 9AM (while writing this it is 5AM, i should go to bed). So a lot of coffee was involved. We were in the studio at 11AM.

First day it was a bit crowded. The idea was to record the drums for all of the songs. Everyone else was there to play as a support.

It is a weird feeling when you are standing there and all you can hear is keyboard clicking and just the drums.

Some photography technical details. The light was well what it was :) So the idea was go as low on shutter speed and aperture as you can and then as high as you have to on ISO. On 35mm lens i feel comfortable with 1/50 Shutter speed and was lucky that ISO 3200 looks good with small amount of grain/noise.

Also didn't want to go slower than 1/50 shutter speed as i was not sure about the motion blur.

From my understanding, recording drums is the hardest part. And they have to be perfect as everyone else is recording while listening to them.

Lucky enough the drummer is a drum machine / metronome. :)

Change of lenses. I like Canon 85mm for portraits. Often it is not that great for inside shots as it needs a bit more room but here it worked out ok. Changing the shutter speed to 1/100 to be sure i don't have any blur from my hands shaking.

Listening and analyzing few of the recorded drums. 99% of it was recorded a full song one take and 6 minutes song without a mistake is hard.

Cool place and extra photos! Do they record always in that studio? And so warm atmosphere that can be felt from there!

Good that Vlasto closed his eyes and not you...
The photos would be maybe weird then :D

Thanks.

First album in the making. so first time there 😃

It was a long day, especially for someone who can't fell a sleep before 4AM 😄

especially for someone who can't fell a sleep before 4AM

hahah, and I thought I am weird with 2am 🤣

Great for the first album. I hope they will have a lot of success :)

born in the wrong time zone 😄

🤣🤣

Good luck man, Looks like a wicked set coming along. Drummers have to work twice as hard for half the credit usually so give the man a prize.

Boost Noted.

thanks.

they usually put them at the back of the stage with poor lights 😂 (coming from a photographer that finds light important)

Too bed photos doesn't have music, but seems you had a lot of fun!

maybe it is better this way. there was a lot of drums with no other sounds there 😀

it was an interesting experience.

I told you before that you are going to make them celebrities! With the right photographer they have nothing to fear :)

😄

maybe if Hive blows up :D

Looking good, so I bet it will sound even better.

This is a truly magnificent photography,
So apparently this is what talented people having fun looks like ❤️ a spetacular capture as well!

Thanks.

most of the fun was before and after 😀 this one was a mix of fun and stress as it was something done for the first time and with a time limit.

Photos are top class.

Awesome shots! Interesting to know about the high ISO working out here. I guess with people it's ok because they don't want all the skin pore detail, lol. With my crows I'm always looking for feather detail, and anything over 1000 doesn't work out so well. But these look great! I especially like the shot with the bass player and the focus on the finger.

Great photos. Sounds like an interesting recording process ith them focusing on one instrument or member of the band at one time. Cool, good luck shooting day two 👍

VERY GOOD 😎
