The following photographs were taken more than a decade ago, in 2008.
This small, empty snail shell was found on the dark, barren terrain that was burned by an accidental fire a couple of days before.
Here you can see a dead millipede that was caught by the aforementioned bushfire.
In these two photographs, you can see two small, burned carcasses. A dead grasshopper on the left, and the remains of a spider in the picture on the right.
These two pill bugs died in a pose that makes them look strangely alive in the desolate macro landscape. The following photograph ...
... was also taken in 2008 but the circumstances were considerably different.
I found this empty exoskeleton, left by the cicada after the metamorphosis, on the coastal meadow under the strong midday sun. The vegetation was mostly brown and dry, and the dusty road was hot as a frying pan.
Here you can see the same thing photographed in four slightly different ways. For the second shot from the left, I used an external flash. For the other three, only the angle from which the photograph is taken was different.
Here you can see another empty shell. The lovely spiral was found on the dried-out Dipsacus fullonum plant.
AND THAT'S IT. AS ALWAYS IN THESE POSTS ON HIVE, THE PHOTOGRAPHS ARE MY WORK - THE END.
when you happen to catch a good light your captures are inredibly good. those are very very very very very cool!

🙂
You took some amazing photos.
Thanks 🙂 Fortunately, the world is filled with amazing stuff.
You're absolutely right.
And many of them are still waiting to be discovered.
Sad about the fire… but great captures.
The skeleton is a great find. You can look right through it.
The shell on the plant is beautiful, great angles to show something different. 😁
Thanks for sharing @borjan
Empty shells and the sunlight can create some nice images 😄
Yes, they sure do @borjan 😁
Good morning.
Have a great Wednesday!
Thanks. 🙂Great Wednesday to you too.
You are welcome 😁
Thank you kindly!
What amazing shots; it never ceases to amaze me how much detail we can pull out with macrophotography. You have shown us something that many people may never notice.
Yes, there is a lot to discover through the macro lens. With many insects around and with many plants in bloom, in springtime & summer, every day brings quite a few surprises and wow - moments.
Wow, moving images. People don't often realize just how much life is taken by fires.
Those last shots look like something out of a Tim Burton movie.
Yes, the life of small creatures usually flows in some kind of parallel dimension that we often don't perceive as a part of our world. The macro lens is a cool piece of equipment that can transport you there. Traveling through those surreal landscapes and encountering the incredible shapes and colors of plants and animals gives me a strong science fiction feeling.
Glad you like the post. 🙂
Photos with sun rays through the shells/skelets are better that lit by the flash.

True. Most of the time the ambient light is much better than the flash.
wow the first ones are amazing, before I read what they actually are, I thought it would be some sort of scifi metal creatures... really like that effect, also in the other ones very surreal and beautiful!
Thanks 🙂 Glad you like the post.
You are very welcome:)

This shoot is amazing! I really like this one the most. The depth of field and color tone, it brings so much story. All others are amazing too. This series gives me the post apocalyptical vibes. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks. 🙂 Glad you like the post. The patch of burned terrain was actually pretty small because the firefighters arrived in time. Only the macro view could actually create a bit of that apocalyptic vibe. 🙂Glad you noticed it. Have a great day.
Woa those are really amazing... The exoskeleton is the overall photo for me..
Sorry about the incident too
Incredible images, the millipede is just fantastic
These are some great shots. Looks like it could be on the cover of a Nine Inch Nails album! haha
😀

That's a lot of dead insects in one day.
That's true.
Photography depends on skills. Anyhow now modern lens made it more transparent with each vivid details. All pictures of these insects are amazing especially Snail.
Foto macro yang begitu indah terlihat.
Terima kasih
You've saved for a very long time some beautiful photos from 2008.
