El día que salí a la playa para el paseo de Blake, de regreso estaba esta flor en una maceta de un restaurant, dentro de todo el caos de la ciudad estaba esta magnifica y delicada flor en perfecto estado, embelleciendo el lugar junto a un gran grupo de insectos, es allí cuando pienso , por fin me siento en Primavera.
Esta hermosa planta conocida como Dietes Bicolor o comúnmente como Iris africano del orden Asparagales (del mismo orden de las orquídeas, espárragos entre otros) es una planta de hojas largas y finas (como en forma de espaditas) de un color verde pálido como se ve al final en la foto, que se propaga de forma directa por siembra con semillas y de forma indirecta por multiplicación de rizoma (algo así como que de la raíz retoña y se va propagando).
Su flor como podemos observar tiene 6 pétalos, dependiendo de la variación genética podría presentarse blanca o amarillenta, con tres manchas morado oscuro o naranja, junto a una especie de capsula en el centro comúnmente lila claro o blanquecino el cual es su fruto, este al madurarse genera peso sobre la flor y el tallo (que como pueden ver es bastante fino), de este fruto salen las semillas que al madurarse son color marrón, propagándose de manera natural cuando dicha capsula se seca, se abre y por su mismo peso cae al suelo.
Esta planta también conocida como Lirio de quince días, del genero Dietes son provenientes del sur y centro África, aunque no se sabe con certeza si fue introducida o es autóctona del Uruguay.
Cuando hablamos de su cuidado hay tres cosas que debemos tomar en cuenta: riego, sol y suelo.
Cuando hablamos del riego es importante utilizar una maceta con buen drenaje, dado que la planta necesita un suelo húmedo pero sin acumulación de agua.
Cuando hablamos del sol, encontramos que esta planta prefiere la sombra parcial (un lugar donde no reciba solo todo el día) y debe sembrarse al principio de primavera, aun que en otros paises en la época del año donde el clima ronde los 20 grados centígrados para que esta pueda florecer.
Por ultimo si se trata del suelo, se prefiere un suelo neutro o alcalino, arcilloso y que tenga un buen drenaje.
Vaya, que cuidar una planta parece mas fácil de lo que realmente es, sin duda alguna en condiciones adversas a sus ideales también puede crecer, pero al igual que el resto puede significar, que no florezca, que tenga hongos, que se seque, entre otros, muchas veces olvidamos que las plantas también son seres vivos y están propensas a enfermase al igual que nosotros.
Cabe destacar que toda esta información fue de fácil recopilación con la app Picture This que identifica casi cualquier planta o flor solo con una fotografía así como agregar tus propias plantas a un jardín virtual con guías para tenerlas en sus condiciones ideales.

Its flower as we can see has 6 petals, depending on the genetic variation it could appear white or yellowish, with three dark purple or orange spots, along with a kind of capsule in the center, usually light lilac or whitish which is Its fruit, when it ripens, generates weight on the flower and the stem (which as you can see is quite fine), from this fruit the seeds come out that when ripe are brown, propagating naturally when said capsule dries, opens and by its own weight it falls to the ground.
This plant, also known as Fifteen-day Lily, of the Dietes genus, comes from southern and central Africa, although it is not known with certainty if it was introduced or is native to Uruguay.
When we talk about their care there are three things that we must take into account: irrigation, sun and soil.
When we talk about irrigation it is important to use a pot with good drainage, since the plant needs a moist soil but without accumulation of water.
When we talk about the sun, we find that this plant prefers partial shade (a place where it does not receive sun all day) and should be sown at the beginning of spring, although in other countries at the time of year where the climate Around 20 degrees centigrade so that it can flourish.
Finally, if it is the soil, a neutral or alkaline soil, clayey and that has good drainage is preferred.
