So, this morning we decided to play tourists in our own city. I tracked our little adventure on my Strava app. And hey, even if it wasn't a massive, record-breaking mileage, every single step counts and a good walk is always worth celebrating 🤭
Our mission? Visiting the majestic Cristo de La Habana.
If you don't know much about him, this colossal white marble statue stands tall at about 20 meters high, blessing the city from across the bay.
👉🏽Fun fact: because it was sculpted by a woman (Jilma Madera), it’s said he has a softer, more human expression, and his hands are positioned as if he’s holding an invisible cigar and a mojito😃 Very Cuban! 🇨🇺
To get there, we took the classic Casablanca ferry. It’s a super quick, 5-minute boat ride from Old Havana
I made the trip with my lovely, incredibly handsome husband. Bless his heart, he always tries his absolute best to take those perfect, Instagram-worthy aesthetic photos of me... but let's be real, he almost never succeeds! 😂
Once you hop off the ferry in Casablanca and make it to the top where the Cristo stands, the view absolutely steals your breath away. You get this stunning, panoramic look at the entire bay, the Malecón, and the colorful chaos of Havana below. Between the boat ride and the hilltop views, the scenery today was 10/19!
A perfect, simple morning. Short on kilometers, but massive on good views and laughs! 💙
