Mejiro (Japanese White-Eye) and Cherry Blossoms ~ Beauty of Japan

Eating Mejiro.jpg

Kawazu cherry blossoms, a special kind that blooms about a month earlier than the rest, are not only lovely, but they also attract one of the more beautiful birds of Japan---the mejiro (Japanese white-eye). This one was pausing during his snack for the camera.

Hi thereDavid LaSpina is an American photographer and translator lost in Japan, trying to capture the beauty of this country one photo at a time and searching for the perfect haiku.

@dbooster when did you take this photo and have you submitted it anywhere else?

@castleberry - Bob Ross' Kid? (sorry, that immediately jumped out at me when I saw your comment). Anyway, I took it several years ago. And have published it in various places over the years, mostly my blogs and on Flickr, though it has of course (as these things unfortunately go) been ripped off and put up on most of the wallpaper sites by now.
