Baby Ground Squirrels 😍

Hamsters, Squirrels and Ground Squirrels are cute, but Baby Ground Squirrels they are one of the cutest things I've ever seen. When I visited the spot with the ground squirrels the last time the babies where already outside of their caves and their cuteness is hard to beat. They where eating their first grass and seeds they found on the floor and it was very interesting watching them searching the ground for something to eat. I could watch them probably the whole year if it wouldn't be such a far and long drive with the Car. And in times of expensive petrol I try to keep closer to my homeplace during my photography trips since I often find a lot of interesting birds not two hours but less than one hour with the car.

After a nice breakfast we usually visit this meaddow where the ground squirrels can be found, when it starts to get hotter and the action on the grass is getting less again we proceed to drive to other spots in Vienna for Bird and Macro Photography and we usually end the Trip to Vienna with some photography of the Hamsters in the evening since this is their main time of action. So the whole day is usually occupied with different species from ground squirrels in the morning to rabbits in the time around noon, birds in the afternoon and hamsters in the Evening. Even though it is a tight schedule we often manage to get pictures of several different species and also could enjoy some nice food and drinks at the "Heuriger" and still have some time for relaxing. The last time Stefan even bought some "Rammstein" Merchandise in the Merchandise shop in Vienna.

Something that always amazes me about urban wildlife photography is that you can get a lot closer to the animals than on spots outside of the city since the animals are already used to humans and therefore they let us a lot closer. But still you need a lot of patience and the more you have the closer you probably get. Same is valid for bird photography. This year I totally forgot to print some of my pictures, I still need to pick some of my pictures that I want to develop as a big picture for my walls so I can exchange some existing ones. Maybe one of the baby Ground squirrels will take a spot of an existing picture but I am not yet sure. Yesterdays pictures of the Temmincks Stint could also be a Candidate. We'll see.

very cute adorable

I thought the same thing.

Oh, so cute!

Yes they are, baby ground squirrels are really adorable but can only be seen for such a short time period.
