It's spring in Melbourne, so what better excuse to take my still relatively new 70-300mm Fujifilm zoom lens to the somewhat (okay 20km down the road) Woodlands park to see what nature I can capture.
I know there are Kangaroos in this park so it was always going to be a good chance to see those and see what this lens can really do
Kangaroos tend to hang around in the shade so you are always trying to balance light.
They are strange creatures, always alert and always watching.
This little guy has a little bit more to learn though
Eventually he will grow up to be this big muscular guy, when the stand like this they are just so insanely impressive
But it's not all Kangaroos here, there are also some lovely birds.
This rosella
And these Sulphur Crested Cockatoos
and finally there is of course the landscape, and plenty of rocks to climb up on to, if only you can work out how to get back down again....

Whoa, that one kangaroo is pretty muscular and you get to see them somewhat up close. Is the park totally open as in, it's safari-like?
Yeah you can just wander around, when they are on the move they get pretty close to people (say 5-6 metres) but they will bound away if you get to close to them
