Nice surroundings, i would like to go there sometime! The picture it's not quit rule of third! maybe that makes it better?
I am not sure I believe rule of third. Balance in a photo depends how distinctive the elements are and where you eye goes.
My eye goes to the big empty space on the left.
Does that make you think of endless desert? I am not sure I still would frame it that way now (it's a very old shot) but people seem to like this shot. Hard to say it it makes it better or worse. Also the sun is blown out which people would disagree with but that seems to add to the bleakness.
Its just personal i think, but it remind me of one of my picture, I was struggling with the composition also.

Agree it's little cramped with the sun star going off the top. Slightly wider angle would have been better. Looks like mud/sand flats what was the gathering about?
