"Ela" is my "Alpha Cat".... She has been in our family for a little more than four years and since she was a newborn baby, her personality was already a foreshadowing of what she would be like as an adult.
"Ela" es mi "Gata Alfa"... Ella tiene un poco más de cuatro años siendo de nuestra familia y desde que era una bebé recién nacida, ya su personalidad era un presagio de como sería de adulta.

"Ela" together with her sister "Mia" were abandoned on the threshold of my garage when they were very small (they hadn't even opened their eyes) and since then they are a very important part of our family, but although our herd has grown (nowadays we have 7 cats) Ela is still the unquestionable leader of the herd and she usually defends and protects the territory (our house and yards) with great determination, she also usually watches over all the other members of the herd.
"Ela" junto con hermana "Mia" fueron abandonadas en el umbral de mi garaje siendo muy pequeñas (no habían siquiera abierto sus ojitos) y desde entonces forman parte muy importante de nuestra familia, pero aunque nuestra manada ha crecido (hoy en día tenemos 7 gatos) Ela sigue siendo la jefa incuestionable de la manada y suele defender y proteger el territorio (nuestra casa y patios) como mucha determinación, también suele velar por todos los otros miembros de la manada.

These photos were taken unexpectedly... Last days I came back home after going out to take some pictures and as soon as I entered the garage, I saw Ela sleeping inside the old clay pot... Wow! .... I was delighted to see her there... That old piece of earthenware belonged to my grandmother and I can remember seeing it on the firewood burning while inside it was cooking the delicious rice that my grandmother knew how to make... That was more than 44 years ago.... It's amazing that now one of my beloved cats uses it to rest!.... But I'm sure my grandmother would love it, pure and simple, she loved cats...
Estas fotos las hice de forma inesperada... En días pasado regresé a casa después de salir a hacer fotos y apenas entrar por el garaje, observe a Ela durmiendo dentro dese viejo cántaro de barro... ¡Wow!.... Me encantó verla allí... Esa vieja pieza de barro cocido perteneció a mi abuela y puedo recordar verla sobre la leña ardiendo mientras dentro de ella se cocía el delicioso arroz que mi abuela sabía hacer... De eso hace más de 44 años... ¡Es increíble que ahora una de mis amadas gatas la use para descansar!... Pero estoy seguro de que a mi abuela le encantaría, pura ella amaba tener gatos...

Ela is a lovely cat, but she is also easily annoyed... So a few minutes after I was taking these pictures, she stretched a bit inside her mud bowl, got up and went to look for another place to rest without being bothered by her impertinent human... he he he... ;-)
Ela es una gata encantadora, pro también se fastidia con facilidad... Así que unos pocos minutos después de estar haciéndole estas fotos, se estiró un poco dentro de su cuenco de barro, se alzó y fue a buscar otro lugar en donde descansar sin que su impertinente humano le molestase... he he he... ;-)

But I loved these photos even if I took them in a rather hurried way...
Pero me encantaron estas fotos a pesar de haberla hecho de manera un tanto apresurada...
I guess Ela uses that place to rest due to the high ambient temperatures we are experiencing these days, so that old clay pot surely provides her with a sort of "thermal insulation" against the heat.... I remember my grandmother saying that this type of pot was also used to store water and soft drinks in the times when there were no refrigerators in the village, as the liquids were kept quite cool there.
Yo supongo que Ela usa ese lugar para descansar debido a las altas temperaturas ambientales que estamos experimentando estos días, entonces esa vieja vasija de barro seguramente le provee una especie de "aislamiento térmico" contra el calor.... Recuerdo que mi abuela decía que ese tipo de vasijas también servia para guardar el agua y los refrescos en los tiempos en los que no habían refrigeradores en el pueblo, pues allí los líquidos se mantenían bastante frescos.

The pictures were taken with my old DSLR Nikodn D7000 and my Sigma 18-200mm lens, I would have preferred to use a fixed focal lens like my 50mm or 35mm which are ideal for this kind of pictures, but as I said, it was something fortuitous and I didn't want to risk Ela leaving the place while I was going to find and mount another lens.
Las fotografías fueron realizadas con mi vieja DSLR Nikodn D7000 y mi lente Sigma 18-200mm, hubiese preferido usar un objetivo de focal fija como mi 50mm o 35mm que son ideales para este tipo de fotos, pero tal como dije, fue algo fortuito y no quise a arriesgare a que Ela abandonase el lugar mientras iba a buscar y a montar otro lente.

The processing of the photos was entirely in Adobe Camera Ram, where all the adjustments of white temperature, depth, sharpening, tones, exposure, contrast and gamma adjustments were done... The resulting JPGs were finalised in PhotoScape 3.6.1 where slight vignettes and watermarks were added.
El procesado de las fotos fue totalmente en Adobe Camera Ram, en donde se realizaron todos los ajustes de temperatura de blancos, profundidad, afilado, tonos, exposición contraste y ajustes gamma... Los JPG resultantes fueron finalizados en PhotoScape 3.6.1 en donde se le agregaron leves viñetas y marcas de agua.

A Payito le pasa seguido con Kira 😆 me llamó mucho ma atención la vasija de barro. Mi abuela tenía una igual y me encantaba. La tinaja. Mi abuelita solía guardar el agua allí y siempre sabía muy fresca el agua. Eso me encantaba, cuando me servía agua de la tinaja. Me trajiste recuerdos jejeje
