[ESP-ENG] El Cementerio / The Cemetery

¿Ridículo, no?

We tend to think that the resting places of our deceased are a place to be feared, one where no one can be or visit because a dead person could come out to walk, bite us, kill us or infect us with a virus that does not turn us into zombies. Ridiculous, isn't it?

It happens that the entertainment world has turned it into a kind of small terrifying underworld, Michael Jackson helped a little with Thriller; although in a peculiar way and without a doubt an infinity of stories of ultratombs, werewolves, vampires, books, etc. They did their part. So many are afraid of it.

The truth is that there is a lot of peace there, walk and see from a distance those who are no longer on this plane is certainly an interesting experience. But the San Esteban Cemetery in Manizales is very beautiful and believe me when I tell you that it is very peaceful. Why would it be any different?

It has impressive sculptures and its construction is different from others I have visited, lots of art, well organized, clean, and well cared for. On June 17, 1923, the second Bishop of the city, Monsignor Tiberio de Jesús Salazar y Herrera decided to place the first stone of the current San Esteban Cemetery. From that moment on, the transfer of the deceased from the previous cemetery to the current one began and thus became the main cemetery of the City of Open Doors, Manizales.

A beautiful piece of architecture that everyone should visit sometime, so come and see it.
