Fira and Oia, Santorini, Greece (6 pics)

Santorini, also called Thira, is a Greek island located in the Aegean Sea.

It was destroyed by a volcanic eruption long ago and this has shaped its rugged landscape with beaches composed of black, red and white lava pebbles.

The white cube-shaped houses of its 2 main cities, Fira and Oia, are hung on cliffs overlooking a caldera.

Postcard pictures everywhere you look!

Here is a cute little white house found walking around at random.

I loved all the white and blue houses, hotels, restaurants and windmills around the island.

The splash of color is a bonus… and it smelled so gooood!

Oia, the northwest city of Santorini Island, is known for its a superb view of the sunset.

Most people scruple the horizon to get the best picture possible.

I turned my camera on the other side, to see people position themselves to get the best possible view before the fatidic moment.

A nice pink sunset.

We stayed there 3 days so we had the chance to admire the sunset from different part of the island.

Always calm and relaxing to look at the sun going to sleep.

This one was the last sunset a saw on the island.

Santorini is perfect to observe the end of the day or the beginning of the night in nice company.

Sunrise are cool too, but are a little too early for me.

I wish I could have stayed longer in the cyclades region.

The islands are so beautiful, people so nice and the food delicious.

The view of the boats waiting to go at sea makes me want to go back there even more.
