Tomar was the last Templar town to be commissioned for construction.

The city was founded at the end of the 12th century, in 1344, by a master of the Knights Templars inside the walls of the Convento de Cristo.

Nowadays, the Templar Castle of Tomar, the Order of Christ convent of Rebirth and the conventual wall form the Convent of Christ.

Tomar was particularly important during the 15th century when it was a center of Portuguese expansion abroad under Henry the Navigator, the Grand Master of the Order of Christ, successor organization of the Templars in Portugal.

On the opposite of this church, is the main square of the city, Praça da República (Republic Square).

In the middle of the square is a bronze statue representing Gualdim Pais, founder of the town in front of the Paços do Concelho (Town Hall).

The Church of Santa Maria do Olival, is known to be the burial place of the Knights Templar of Tomar and their treasures.

Many believe that the city hides the world's greatest templar treasure, perhaps it is in this 13th century Gothic church?

Europe is a nice place to admire old technologies that are still working.

This is a water wheel in the park near the Nabão river.

A nice refreshing spot after a long hot day exploring the convent and castle.
