During my short visit to Piotrków Trybunalski, apart from the market square, I also saw the local royal castle. It is not like a traditional castle.
It was built in the years 1512–1519 by master Benedict from Sandomierz at the behest of Sigismund I the Old. It is a Gothic-Renaissance residential tower built of brick and sandstone. It has four floors and is covered with a tented roof from 1670, from the period of reconstruction after the Swedish invasion. Currently it houses a museum.

Podczas mojej krótkiej wizyty w Piotrkowie Trybunalskim oprócz rynku, zobaczyłam też tutejszy Zamek Królewski. Nie przypomina on tradycyjnego zamku.
Został zbudowany w latach 1512–1519 przez mistrza Benedykta z Sandomierza na polecenie Zygmunta I Starego. Jest to wieża mieszkalna w stylu gotycko-renesansowym zbudowana z cegły i piaskowca. Posiada cztery kondygnacje i jest przykryta dachem namiotowym pochodzącym z 1670 r. z okresu odbudowy po potopie szwedzkim. Obecnie siedziba muzeum.

On the museum gate, there were plaques from the exhibition devoted to the inhabitants of Piotrków who took part in the Warsaw Uprising.
Na bramie muzeum wywieszone były tablice z wystawy poświęconej mieszkańcom Piotrkowa, którzy brali udział w Powstaniu Warszawskim.
As for the castle building. I liked the windows and shutters as well as the arched bricks above the windows. The windows on the top floor were lit in the evening.
A co do budynku zamku. Spodobały mi się okna i okiennice oraz łukowato ułożone cegły nad oknami. Okna na najwyższym piętrze wieczorem były podświetlone.
At the open-air exhibition, I was most impressed by such personal memorabilia as the correspondence of an insurgent who was captured and sent a card to his grandfather. There were, among others written that he was in captivity for a month and was healthy, he asked about his grandfather's health.
Zaś na wystawie plenerowej największe wrażenie zrobiły na mnie takie osobiste pamiątki, jak korespondencja powstańca, który trafił do niewoli i wysłał kartkę do swojego dziadka. Było tam m.in. napisane, że przebywa miesiąc w niewoli i jest zdrowy, pytał o zdrowie dziadka.
