I liked to take pride in the fact I was self taught when it comes to colorgrading. While this is true to a certain level, I realized that I've had help from other amazing photographers albeit indirectly. While I'm able to create my own color grades, most of them are inspired from other photographers that I follow.
I delved into creating photos with warm tones last year, and it was the reason I instantly fell in love with Mossonyi's work, when I discovered her. Not only her photography intrigued me, but her fashion style. It's not something that's familiar in our Nigerian lifestyle and photography space. It amazed me so much that I had to work on a full project consisting of 3 sets based on her style.
To do this, I had to work with the best team I know. My fashion stylist, and of course my favourite model; Ada. I had to invite Ada over to Portharcourt from Uyo. We did the shoot last weekend and the results were amazing. It's been buzzing all over Instagram and I can't help but feel glad.
I felt glad because this is the first project I'm doing that required reasonable amount of funding. From the outfits to the location, to other personnel tagged along on the shoot. It would have been a pain if it tanked. Thankfully, it didn't. Few days ago, I shared BTS pictures and a video from the set. In this post, I'll be sharing the final results from the first look/set.
This project further solidified my reasons for shooting with Ada. Whilst I didn't exactly ask her to, she did her homework on Mossonyi. Yuo could tell by the way she posed on this set. It had the poise and goodness of Mossonyi all over it. She received loads of praise for her work on this set.
The success of this project is tied to everyone who worked on it alongside me. That is; my assistant, the makeup artist, the fashion stylist, and of course my model. We had such a swell time shooting this as everyone cooperated efficiently.
