A Bunch Of Railway Sleepers - Lightpainting on HIVE

ROTATING THE SLEEPERS

When I was walking with @stepko on the abandoned railway site we discovered several piles of railway sleepers. In 1994, this former marshalling and freight yard was closed down. Much of it has been dismantled. In many places, however, remnants of the railway facilities remained. In the meantime, nature has reclaimed most of it. Because the area is not illuminated at night and there are some interesting spots, this place is well suited for our nightly light painting excursions. And it's not far away either. Either 5 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot if the luggage is not too heavy.

@stepko stood on the path next to the sleepers. I blew some mist behind him and shone the Emisar D4K directly towards the camera. Then I lit the sleepers with the Wurkkos WK40 with orange and light blue and turned the camera around the optical axis. You can find a review of this RGB torch here: Review Wurkkos W40K

I like the illumination of the sleepers better in this attempt. However, the light and the fog behind @stepko are too weak for my taste. The effect of the whole picture is not so good because of that.

@stepko had earned a break. I then took a picture without him as a model. I turned the camera with only 6 steps, 3 each on the left and right side.

Here are a few more impressions of the site in daylight.

Once again, it was a very successful night out. Thanks @stepko, especially for standing still in the cold. I'm already looking forward to our next adventure.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.
