ROTATION & BENDING LIGHT
I experimented a little with the prisms again. The light source was again the Endlighten Acryl Blade with the Concentrate C5 Unit. I briefly considered using a different light source for a change, but then discarded the idea. I wanted comparable results. If I work with different prisms in different positions, at least the light source and the rotation of these should be the same. Otherwise it will be difficult. The plan is to "understand" the prisms better. With some, the results are different from what I imagined. And with the combination of two prisms, it becomes even more difficult.
Ich habe wieder ein wenig mit den Prismen experimentiert. Als Lichtquelle kam wieder das Endlighten Acryl Blade mit der Concentrate C5 Unit zum Einsatz. Ich hatte erst kurz überlegt, ob ich mal zur Abwechslung eine andere Lichtquelle verwende, die Idee dann aber verworfen. Ich wollte vergleichbare Ergebnisse. Wenn ich mit verschiedenen Prismen in verschiedenen Positionen arbeite, sollte zumindest die Lichtquelle und die Rotation dieser gleich sein. Ansonsten wird das schwierig. Der Plan ist, die Prismen besser "zu verstehen". Bei einigen, sind die Ergebnisse anders als ich mir das vorgestellt habe. Und bei der Kombination zweier Prismen wird das noch schwieriger.
I had attached the blade with the Concentrate C5 to a planting pole. This was rotated by a motor. The motor is a windscreen wiper motor from a Volkswagen Golf. At the time, it was the cheapest windscreen wiper motor I could find. I paid 25€ for the thing. The motor is driven by a 12V/12Ah battery. I connected a PWM speed controller between the battery and the motor. The wiper motor has the advantage that it runs at a reasonably stable speed, even when there is a bit more weight on the planting rod.
Das Blade mit der Concentrate C5 hatte ich an einem Pflanzstab befestigt. Dieser wurde von einem Motor gedreht. Bei dem Motor handelt es sich um einen Scheibenwischermotor eines Volkswagen Golf. Das war damals der billigste Scheibenwischermotor, den ich finden konnte. Ich hab 25€ für das Ding bezahlt. Angetrieben wird der Motor von einer 12V/12Ah Batterie. Zwischen Batterie und Motor habe ich einen PWM Drehzahlregler geschaltet. Der Scheibenwischermotor hat den Vorteil, dass er mit halbwegs stabiler Drehzahl läuft, auch wenn mal etwas mehr Gewicht an der Pflanzstange hängt.
The picture above is a bit older. For the pictures in this post, as already mentioned, only one blade was mounted. While the motor rotated the blade in a circle, I rotated the camera around the optical axis after each rotation. I had attached the various prisms in front of the lens with a holder I had printed myself.
Das Bild oben ist schon etwas älter. Für die Bilder in diesem Beitrag war, wie bereits erwähnt, nur ein Blade montiert. Während der Motor das Blade im Kreis gedreht hat, habe ich nach jeder Umdrehung die Kamera um die optische Achse gedreht. Die verschiedenen Prismen hatte ich mit einem selbst gedruckten Halter vor dem Objektiv befestigt.
By moving and combining two prisms, the most diverse effects are created. Some of them are very cool, but I don't know if I will ever be able to reproduce them. In the wild, I'll probably limit myself to one prism so that I don't have a nervous breakdown when it doesn't work as planned.
Durch das Verschieben und die Kombination von zwei Prismen entstehen die verschiedensten Effekte. Einige sind sehr cool, allerdings weiß ich nicht, ob ich das jemals wieder reproduziert bekomme. In der freien Wildbahn werde ich mich dann wohl auf ein Prisma beschränken, damit ich keinen Nervenzusammenbruch bekomme, wenn das dann nicht wie geplant funktioniert.

Das ist wieder eine sehr schöne Anleitung zum spielen. Mit tollen Ergebnissen. Zurzeit arbeite ich an einem ähnlichen Projekt. Was für ein Zufall 🤣Meine Drehhilfe ist allerdings noch nicht motorisiert. Luft nach oben ist ja immer.

Hui schöne Ergebnisse. "besser verstehen" ist eine hervorragende Idee 😬. Ich glaube ich bin in den letzten Wochen um einiges älter geworden, auf jeden Fall hab ich deutlich mehr graue Haare, seit ich auf die tolle Idee kam, mir Prismen anzuschaffen 🙄. Die Idee mit dem "doppelten" Prisma finde ich sehr gut. Hab da evtl. noch ne andere Kombination im Kopf. Mehr dazu am Wochenende 😎

Just gorgeous! I love those prisms, drooling over them in fact. A lot of effort to double those up to create these. I really like the feathering effect in three of them.

LOL! I expect it was. I know that experience. It sounds very difficult lining it all up to work. I'm far from that in regard to lightpainting, but I always love to see what you create, since I cannot do it with what I have.
