Photonenrotor Part 3 - Light Painting on Hive

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

ROTATE THE LIGHT

Today I show you some more photon rotor pictures. The technique is always similar. One or more light sources are rotated by a motor. I then record the resulting light traces during a single long exposure with the camera. In some pictures I move the camera during the exposure or incorporate additional elements of light.

For this picture I had three torches with different light shapers attached to the rotating device, two with green colour filters and one with red. After I had taken the rotation, I changed the camera to a second tripod. I illuminated the golden side of a space blanket with red light and turned the zoom ring of the lens several times. This created the explosion effect. The positioning of the torch and the life blanket were quite time-consuming. At the slightest movement it didn't fit anymore.

This picture was taken in the same way. I had illuminated the rescue ceiling with two light colours one after the other.

For the fog effect in this image, I had held a piece of opaque film in front of the lens. Cling film or other transparent or semi-transparent materials can also be used creatively in light painting. The effect can be intensified by spraying water on the film with a spray bottle or by applying oil. There are hardly any limits to creativity here.

This is how my setup looks for most photon rotors.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?

Light painting is a unique form of art. The darkness is illuminate by the artist with diverse light sources and light traces are paint into the picture with various light tools. Various techniques are use, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited. All the pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, the pictures are not processed on the computer.

Great to see the set up, never tried to put cling film over the lens but will look into giving it a try-out. 👍😎

Pro tip: Best not put the used one on the lens. So you don't have to scratch the butter from the lens.

I hope to remember that! 😂

I love that second image. Really cool shots man!

I am glad you like it.

Indeed!

Ich mag die grünen Bilder sehr.

WOW 👏👏👏
