The village of Pchelintsi was submerged during Communism in Bulgaria due to the construction of the Pchelina Dam. All that remains of the village is the small stone chapel, which reminds us that once upon a time these lands were full of life. Personally, I find this story ridiculous. Why should entire villages be leveled for the sake of building a dam when the village can simply be bypassed?
Unfortunately, there are many such examples worldwide.
While I was taking the photos I watched the waters of the dam and imagined the streets and houses under the water. If there is a diver among you, we will gladly do an underwater tour. It would be a truly brutal sight!
Shortly before we left, a shepherd came to us. It asks us what this flying thing is that we're piloting. I explained that we were taking pictures, and he asked - HOW? After half an hour I think he understood us. We asked him where he was from, and he sadly nodded his head down at the dam. I joined...
