Welcome to the next episode of photo-series dedicated to hiking adventures. This time I will show you around the Opava district (Czechia). Due to corona-virus threat, government applied even tighter restrictions - a ban on traveling. Therefore I must stick around. Let's check out highlights of this chilling local hike 😉
Isn't it a duck house? You can find it in village Branka near Opava. It is a cold and damp day, temperature drops below zero.
Frozen field sprawling over the village.
A (locked) high seat. In Czech language, we also call it pulpit. The mogul on the horizon is mountain Velký Roudný (780 m.a.s.l.)
It's overcast. Perhaps it's going to snow? In the middle, you can see a castle in Hradec nad Moravicí.
Swing, nice!
Now let's test if my boots are truly waterproof. Must admit this shortcut is not ordinary trail. Last seen visitors here were likely just wild animals.
Having a short break at this lovely spot.
Entering the national nature reserve Kaluža where you can find native beechwood.
Damn! A fenced deer-park Jelenice. Cannot go through, need to go around it, some extra four kilometers. Maybe I will be lucky to see some game.
I am, indeed! The stag just spotted me while eating.
After the detour, another shortcut. This one is for wild animals only as I find plenty of their droppings and other animal s*** there. A reward is awaiting at the end of this alley - a shy fox 😀
Further on the road, another surprise. Wild flock of mouflons.
Need another break.
Sound of common buzzard attracts my ears. I look up to the sky.
This is kind of uncommon in this area. Lovely birchwood.
Closer look.
Final stop, resting on wooden high seat, forgot to take a picture of it.
View from that spot. Behind, you could see ruins of the Vikštejn castle. The foreground is decorated with catkins.
Texture made of colorful lichen and wood catches my attention.
Now waiting for bus to get me back home. Cheers ;-)
~Itinerary. The map app does not recognize all my secret shortcuts and detours. Pedometer recorded ~34k steps.
