Hi there!
After quite some time (well, busy summer and beautiful weather most of the time), a new post is finally coming. What do we have in store?
Back in September, before the Covid-wave no. 2 hit us hard, we took off for a road-trip, destination Croatia. The stop we could not miss was unexpectedly Plitvice Lakes National Park which is on the UNESCO World heritage list. Here is a photo-report of this amazing place, definitely worth visiting, especially during the pandemic times as there is not that crowded.
The lakes
Do not expect nothing but crystal clear water and pure nature.
This photo was taken from deck of ferryboat which operates between some lakes. You can board for free as it is included in the ticket. If you have busy agenda, it is quite handy as you do not need to walk around lakes.
Love their well maintained wooden footbridges. This one is along the lake.
While this one takes you over the lake. Isn't it gorgeous?
Inaccessible cave.
This is the notice showing where you currently are within the complex of cascaded lakes.
Lakes are interconnected, and this is the place where water is flowing from one lake to another.
The turquoise color of water, it is really something.
Submerged roots and branches coated with sediments.
Quickly running, falling, burbling and other water
Now some waterfalls. The highest one, with 78 meters, is the Great Waterfall.
Same waterfall from a distance with some other waterfall.
Not the highest, on the other hand, the most romantic one? The Galovački Buk Waterfall.
The erosion is truly eye-catching there.
Burbling water underneath the footpath.
Fauna
Spiders. They are everywhere. It is quite a challenge to take sharp pictures of them and their webs in the wind :-D
Isn't it orb weaver?
Meet this small duck.
Plenty of various fish there.
Flora
Tree root system, a beech if not mistaken.
This lovely little flower (Purple Sowbread/Cyclamen Purpurascens), you can find it everywhere. At least in Czechia, it is a protected plant.
Need fresh mint? Some other herbs flourish there as well.
Roots coated with clay.
Intellectual stops
A memorial plaque dedicated to an academician, Gustav Janeček - Bohemian by birth, Croatian by life and work. Nice!
Nikola Tesla: "If you don't know how, observe the phenomena of nature, they will give you clear answers and inspiration." He was born just 65 km from the Plitvice Lakes. #NKLA #TSLA
The floor
What a nice floor they have got when you go for a ferryboat.
That's it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading this post. If you have not subscribed to this blog yet, consider doing so as more cool adventures will come for sure.
Doviđenja!
Wonderful
Yes, indeed, thanks!
Krása. A nikde nejsou lidi. Záhada :)
Přesto lidi byli, i přes pandemii. Snažil jsem se je z fotek vynechat :-)
Povedlo se. Alespoň k něčemu ta pandemie byla :)
This is what I call an epic comeback :) A very decent load of top notch shots. Definitely one of the best post on the Plitvice Lakes I have ever seen. Nomination to my latest upvote giveaway and some extra love from TipU ;)
