And now I will show you the three babies.
The proud mom stared to see if I was impressed, and I assured her that I was.
In my last Friday squirrel post I told you that I will soon show you all three of the babies. The river is close to our house, and they breed in the high palm trees on the riverbanks. Obviously, they will search the nearby house gardens for food, and we knew what they wanted, to attract them to our garden. Acorns are their staple diet, and thankfully we still have a few old oak trees around. In season the trees drop their acorns, and it is a simple task to fill an empty bag with the acorns. Then the wife lays a few out in the front garden, and the squirrels find them. We also discovered that they like avocados and we have plenty over here.
So, come and see the babies.
And there they were, all 3 of them, and I have placed four shots of them before the third one disappeared.
These two seemed to be identical twins, and the third one went on an exploration tour around the garden.
Here below they tried to eat dried avocado peels.
But then they were back to eating the maize pips that we put out for the doves.
Not all is well in squirrel land, as they are quick to bang each other out of the way.
We also have the habit of weaning the babies, and so as soon as they become juniors, then we don't feed as they must find their own food in nature. The fear is, that they will become dependent upon humans for their food, and that is never a good thing. We have stopped feeding right now, and they are so cute that it is quite difficult not to run out when we see them come through the garden, searching for food. But no, they must learn that nature will feed them. I know of some pet shops offering pet squirrels to the public, and we don't like it as all of nature's residents should be free to roam in the wild. Just one of our ways to look at the things of nature.
I hope you have enjoyed the pictures and the story.

wow those babies are so cute. l love the way they move their tails to their backs.
Thank you, and when they move their tails onto their backs, it is to protect themselves against any attacks. !LOL
Amazing 😍😍 cute babies. Nice photography my friend.
Cute babies indeed. Thank you. !LOL
Such fun :) At what age do you begin feeding again after they've grown and learned?

Always fun, and after they are weaned, then we wait until they are adults. Most often many disappear, and only the original mother hangs around. We then feed her only occasionally, as she will only come when she is hungry, after rainstorms, or very cold days.

Baby squirrels are adventurous, great to feed them without intervention to continue into a normal adult life. Born free, stay free I totally agree.

Oh yes, the little things can get up to all kinds of tricks. They are fast growers and will soon be gone.
Glad that you agreed about the freedom of wildlife, as it is important.

How beautiful! Thank you for portraying the life of the squirrels so beautifully and I was delicious. Squirrels in our country are low and maybe I didn't pay much attention
Thank you and maybe you should pay more attention to the squirrels whenever you see them. !LOL
The babies are growing so fast. Now they know for sure you will be feeding them regularly. They will come asking for food. lol
Oh yes, they grow up very fast, and no, we have now stopped the feeding in order to wean them off from depending on us for food. Nature will feed them now, as it is as it should be.
So, we will follow the same process for the next small babies that will appear here. !LOL

Oh, the squirrels are so cute! We do no have one here so I am very amazed by these cute animals!
Yes, they are lovely little critters, and sad that you don't have squirrels at your place.
Maybe I can send some over. !LOL
Hahaha! I don't think squirrels can live in the Philippines.
Squirrels can live anywhere, as long as there is bright sun, and nuts. !LOL
