Yes, I said deep travel. In the last few weeks, I have visited caves around Antalya that are not known to many people. I want us to explore these caves together, where we are deprived of daylight, and which cause anxiety as we go deeper. First of all, I would like to take you to Karain cave, which is perhaps one of the largest caves in Turkey.

Evet derinlere yolculuk dedim. Son birkaç haftadır, Antalya'nın çevresinde bulunan ve çok fazla kişiler tarafından bilinmeyen mağaraları ziyaret ettim. Gün ışığından yoksun kaldığımız ve derinliklere gittikçe endişe uyandıran bu mağaraları birlikte keşfedelim istiyorum. İlk olarak sizi Türkiye'nin belki de en büyük mağaralarından biri olan Karain mağarasına götürmek istiyorum.
Karaim cave is located in Yağca village of Döşemealtı district on the Antalya-Burdur road. Its distance from Antalya city center is about 30 km. The difference of this cave from other caves is that people in the past lived in this cave. We can understand this from the excavations in the cave and the symbols and pictures drawn on the cave walls.
Karaim mağarası, Antalya-Burdur yolu üzerinde bulunan Döşemealtı ilçesinin Yağca köyünde bulunmaktadır. Antalya şehir merkezine uzaklığı yaklaşık 30 km civarındadır. Bu mağaranın diğer mağaralardan farkı, geçmişteki insanların bu mağarada yaşıyor olmasıdır. Bunu da mağara içerisindeki yapılan kazılar ve mağara duvarlarına çizilen sembollerden ve resimlerden anlayabiliyoruz.
To reach the cave, you have to go up the stairs, which are quite long and steep. Stairs are a steep winding road that two people can barely pass. It is quite tiring to walk on this narrow wooden road that connects the two sides with wooden boards and thick ropes. You can also watch the magnificent view when you look back from the stairs you go uphill all the time. My excitement grows with every step you take on the way up. One wonders what to expect.
Mağaraya ulaşmak için oldukça uzun ve dik olan merdivenlerden yukarı doğru çıkmanız gerekiyor. Merdivenler iki kişinin zorlukla geçebileceği dik virajlı bir yoldur. İki yanı ahşap kalın tahtalar ve kalın iplerle birbirine bağlayan bu dar tahta yoldan yürümek oldukça yorucudur. Sürekli yokuş yukarı çıktığınız merdivenlerden arkaya dönüp baktığınız da muhteşem manzarayı da izleyebilirsiniz. Yukarı çıkarken attığınız her adımda heyecanım daha çok artıyor. İnsan neyle karşılaşacağını merak ediyor.
The interior of the cave consists of rock fragments that were formed as a result of natural karst formations. When you step inside, you come across stones that are formed in different shapes and look like white tones that hang down. The interior of the cave, which is high and wide, suddenly darkens when you enter. When you raise your head up, you can even hear the sounds of bats in the dark. Some sections are illuminated for the visitors to visit comfortably. The poses and shapes of the white rock pieces seem to bring an object to life. I tried to take pictures of the inside of this big and wide cave for you. Now I leave you alone with these beautiful pictures.
Mağaranın içi, doğal karstik oluşumlar sonuncu meydana gelmiş kaya parçalarından oluşmaktadır. İçeriye adım attığımda farklı şekillerde oluşmuş ve sarkmış şekilde duran beyaz tonu andıran taşlarla karşılaşıyorsunuz. Yüksek ve geniş olan mağaranın içi, içeriye girdiğinizde bir anda kararıyor. Başınızı yukarı kaldırdığınız da karanlıkta yarasaların seslerini bile duyabiliyorsunuz. Ziyaretçilerin rahat gezmeleri için bazı bölümler ışıklandırılmış. Beyaz kaya parçalarının duruşları ve şekilleri sanki bir nesneyi canlandırıyor. Bu büyük ve geniş mağaranın içinin resimlerini sizler için çekmeye çalıştım. Şimdi sizleri bu güzel resimlerle baş başa bırakıyorum.
After visiting the Karain cave, now I want to take you to a secluded cave that not many people know about. The name of this cave is Karataş cave. This cave, which is located on the land of a private property owner, can be reached via the Antalya-Isparta road. Located in the Yukarı Karaman village of Antalya's Aksu district, this cave also has an interesting story. Before moving on to the story, let's take a look at the entrance of the cave.
Karain mağarasını gezdikten sonra şimdi gözlerden uzak kalmış ve çok fazla kimsenin bilmediği bir mağaraya sizleri götürmek istiyorum. Bu mağaranın adı da Karataş mağarasıdır. Özel bir mülk sahibinin arsasının içinde yer alan bu mağaraya Antalya-Isparta yolu üzerinden gidiliyor. Antalya'nın Aksu ilçesinin Yukarı Karaman köyünde yer alan bu mağaranın ilginç bir hikayesi de bulunur. Hikayeye geçmeden önce mağaranın giriş bölümüne bir göz gezdirelim.
At the entrance of the cave, there is an establishment that bears the traces of the nomadic life, unique to the Antalya culture. Village-style meals and pancakes are made here. Entrance fees to the cave are collected by the owner of the business here. Before entering the cave, we listen to the story of this cave from the owner.
Mağaranın girişinde, Antalya kültürüne özgü, yörük yaşamının izlerini taşıyan bir işletme bulunuyor. Burada köy usulü yemekler ve gözlemeler yapılıyor. Mağaraya giriş ücretleri buradaki işletme sahibi tarafından toplanıyor. Mağaraya girmeden önce işletme sahibinden bu mağaranın hikayesini dinliyoruz.
Elif and Kerim's Love Story
According to the legend, the Yörüks living in the region and the young people from the Rebel dynasty oppose marrying each other. There has been a long-standing animosity between the two families. According to the rumor, Elif from Yörüks and Kerim from Rebels fall madly in love with each other. When their families find out about this relationship, they want to lynch the two young people in the middle of the street. Thereupon, Elif and Kerim think that no one can enter the cave, which is believed to contain devils, and hide in the cave. Young people who have been hiding here for many years heal the wounds on their faces by filtering them from the mud, which is thought to be healing, found by the lake in the cave. They try to survive by drinking from the water called "Love Fountain" in the cave. In this story, it is said that the mud is healing and the water is full of love. Visitors put mud on their faces. They wished to meet their love in their hearts by drinking water from the Fountain of Love. Now I can show you inside the cave.
Elif ve Kerim'in Aşk Hikayesi
Efsaneye göre, yörede yaşayan Yörükler ile Asiler sülalesinden gençlerin birbirleriyle evlenmesine karşı çıkmaktadırlar. İki aile arasında uzun yıllar süren bir husumet söz konusudur. Rivayete göre Yörüklerden Elif ile Asilerden Kerim birbirlerine deli gibi aşık olurlar. Aileleri bu ilişkiyi öğrendiklerinde iki genci sokak ortasında linç etmek isterler. Bunun üzerine Elif ve Kerim içinde şeytanların bulunduğuna inanılan mağaraya kimsenin giremeyeceğini düşünerek, mağarada saklanırlar. Uzun yıllar burada saklanan gençler yüzlerinde oluşan yaralarını mağaradaki göl kenarında bulunan şifalı olduğu düşünülen çamurdan süzerek iyileştirirler. Mağaranın içinde bulunan "Aşk Çeşmesi" adı verilen sudan içerek hayatta kalmaya çalışırlar. Bu hikaye ile çamurun şifalı, suyunun da aşk dolu olduğu söylenir. Ziyarete gelenler yüzlerine çamur sürerler. Aşk Çeşmesinden de su içerek gönüllerindeki aşklarına kavuşmayı dilerlermiş. Şimdi sizlere mağaranın içini gezdirebilirim.
It is also said that Kerim's mother threw something to eat from the well in order to prevent the young people from starving.

I couldn't think of leaving here without putting this mud, which is thought to be healing, on my face. When I read what was written on the sign, I started to think that the story was true.
Şifalı olduğu düşünülen bu çamuru yüzene sürmeden buradan ayrılmayı düşünemezdim. Tabelada yazılanları okuyunca hikayenin gerçek olduğunu düşünmeye başladım.
