Hace tiempo estuve haciendo un trabajo periodístico-documental que me llevó a conocer Ciudad Caribia, en el estado La Guaira (Venezuela), un proyecto de viviendas concebido por el gobierno venezolano para atender a sectores de la población que perdieron sus casas durante las fuertes lluvias que azotaron a esta región del país en 2010 y 2011.
During the time I was touring the place, accompanied by some of its inhabitants, in addition to the interviews I did, I took several photos that I share in this post.
Durante el tiempo que estuve recorriendo el lugar, acompañada por algunos de sus habitantes, además de las entrevistas que hice tomé varias fotos que comparto en esta publicación.
Located half an hour from Caracas, in the Path of the Indians (Camino de los Indios) sector, 2.4 kilometers west of the N ° 2 viaduct of the Caracas - La Guaira Highway, Ciudad Caribia was projected as a “21st century city” that integrates spaces for good living and the development of productive activities.
Ubicada a una media hora de Caracas, en el sector Camino de los Indios a 2,4 kilómetros al oeste del viaducto N° 2 de la Autopista Caracas - La Guaira, Ciudad Caribia fue proyectada como una “ciudad del siglo XXI” que integra espacios para el buen vivir y el desarrollo de actividades productivas.
Its name pays tribute to the Caribbean Indians, first-born inhabitants of Caracas, who didn't allow those lands in the mountains to be penetrated by the Spanish conquerors.
Su nombre homenajea a los indios Caribe, primogénitos habitantes de Caracas, quienes no permitieron que esas tierras en las montañas fuesen penetradas por los conquistadores españoles.
This housing complex with a total area of 11,370 hectares (6,000 for development) began to be built in December 2006 through an agreement between the governments of Cuba and Venezuela with the idea of building some 20 thousand apartments.
Este complejo habitacional con un área total de 11.370 hectáreas (6.000 para el desarrollo) comenzó a levantarse en diciembre de 2006 mediante un convenio entre los gobiernos de Cuba y Venezuela con la idea de construir unos 20 mil apartamentos.
On August 27, 2011, the first stage of Ciudad Caribia was inaugurated with the delivery of 602 homes. Up to now, some 3,000 apartments have been delivered, the main beneficiaries being affected families or those at high risk in the communities of Gramovén, Federico Quiroz and the Caracas-La Guaira axis. People are given facilities to pay for these properties that are already low cost and those that are of very low resources, the payment is waived.
El 27 de agosto de 2011 fue inaugurada la primera etapa de Ciudad Caribia con la entrega de 602 viviendas. Hasta ahora se han entregado unos 3000 apartamentos, siendo sus principales beneficiarios las familias damnificadas o en situación de alto riesgo de las comunidades de Gramovén, Federico Quiroz y el eje Caracas-La Guaira. A las personas se les dan facilidades para pagar estos inmuebles que ya son de bajo costo y los que son de muy bajos recursos, se les exonera el pago.
With this project, the so-called Housing Mission began, a social program of the Venezuelan government that builds affordable housing for the people and that so far has delivered almost 3.5 million properties throughout the country.
Con este proyecto comenzó la llamada Misión Vivienda, un programa social del gobierno venezolano que construye viviendas accesibles para la gente y que hasta ahora ha entregado casi 3 millones 500 mil inmuebles en todo el país.
Most of the apartments in Ciudad Caribia measure 72 square meters and others measure 62, have two bathrooms, three bedrooms, living room, kitchen and dining room.
La mayoría de los apartamentos de Ciudad Caribia miden 72 metros cuadrados y otros miden 62, tienen dos baños, tres habitaciones, sala, cocina y comedor.
In addition to the houses, in this complex there are health centers, schools, sports recreation sites, food sales, banks, church, police, a radio station, planting spaces, among others, to meet the needs of the inhabitants.
Además de las viviendas, en este complejo hay centros de salud, escuelas, sitios de recreación deportiva, venta de víveres, bancos, iglesia, policía, una emisora de radio, sembradíos, entre otros, para satisfacer así las necesidades de los habitantes.
The buildings in Ciudad Caribia are not all the same, the complex is made up of small towers of 4-5 floors and other tall ones of more than 10 floors.
Los edificios de Ciudad Caribia no son todos iguales, el complejo está constituido por torres pequeñas, de 4-5 pisos y otras altas de más de 10 pisos.
One of the problems that the people who live here had, as they told me when I visited them, is transportation. As Ciudad Caribia is a place built on top of some mountains, getting there is not easily accessible for the inhabitants who don't have their own car or motorcycle, since the buses assigned to this route were not enough to optimally cover the demand for users who work outside of this area or need to leave for other reasons.
Una de las problemáticas que tenían las personas que viven acá, según me dijeron cuando las visité, es el transporte. Al ser Ciudad Caribia un lugar construido en la cima de unas montañas, llegar allí no es de fácil acceso para los habitantes que no tienen un carro o moto propias, ya que los autobuses asignados a esta ruta no eran suficientes para cubrir óptimamente la demanda de los usuarios que trabajan fuera de esta zona o necesitan salir por otros motivos.
And so far the walk through this urban complex built to improve the quality of life of many people, which, although there is still much to be developed, is still an interesting social project.
Y hasta aquí el paseo por este complejo urbanístico construido para mejorar la calidad de vida de muchas personas, que aunque todavía le falta mucho por desarrollar, no deja de ser un proyecto social interesante.
