This is not a modern playground, this is an artifact of Soviet times. Modern playgrounds look quite different. They are bright and attractive, children can climb, jump, run, swing on a swing, ride a slide.
But in Soviet times, it was popular to decorate playgrounds with figures of fairytale characters and cartoons performed by students of sculptors. I do not know why they did it. To harden the psyche of children for a hard adult life?
