Wednesday Walk Osprey

This past week I haven't been out for many walks, been feeling a bit run down and suffering from allergies and a summer cold, often happens to me at this time of year, and so I have been taking it easy, infact the only walk I have been on, isn't really a walk but visiting the spot where i try and catch shots of the Osprey and its a short walk from where I park the car to the spot I watch the Ospreys but I though since I have visited there many times over the last few weeks I will go for it for this weeks post.
I did head to this spot this morning, and got some new shots, but this post is a selection of shots I have got on previous visits there,
MY goal/hope is to one day catch the Osprey flying with a fish it has caught, have I managed that, well read this post and you will find out :)
In fact as I share this post I am in the same spot after a nice sunrise walk watching the Osprey no luck so far this morning

There such beautiful Birds, and I am quite happy with the shots i share here, better than I have ever got other years trying

When I saw this one flying back I thought it had caught a fish, but as you can see my eyes deceived me, it was some vegetation, perhaps to repair its nest

But the next day, I got this shot, and yes it has a fish, all be it a small one, but i will take it while I keep revisiting and watching them hoping to catch it with a bigger fish one day, which I have seen in the past but always when I don't have my big lens with me or on the camera

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.
This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines
Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.
Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.
Try and get a few shots not just one
Add a bit of a write up about where you walked
Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week
You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.
Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss
Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .
Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.
I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules
I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

Well done Jay, you got some great shots there and in the last photo we can see the Ospreys chick in the bottom left corner of the nest.
We've got some red kites living here and I'm trying to photograph them. Very tricky shots to get. 📷👍

Yeah Birding is real challenging, but I am enjoying it, something different and a real challenge so the odd time you get a good shot it feels real good

Getting certain bird's in flight is pretty tricky.
Gulls are quite easy but Raptors not so much.
Catching one with a fish in claw? Very rewarding. 📷👍

I got a shot of one that I had no luck with till tofday a Roseate Tern, they fly so fats its bene a struggle but caught one eventualy
Yay… you caught it with a fish 🤩🥳 it doesn’t matter how big it is, still it was a fish. But I do get what you are saying. A bigger one will make the photograph more amazing.

I get what you say about wanting to get that photo where the Osprey has caught a big fish...but then Murphy gets in the way...lol.
But this time you got some nice photos of it with a fish. If you enlarge the photo, the fish is very visible in its claws.

They do repair after repair, don't they? With fish breaks in between. Great shots here and I do love the osprey on the water. They have one here at the Ferry Station in Delaware that goes to Cape May, NJ. They are a huge hit and well protected by the town.
I have never been able to photograph birds, so I truly appreciate anyone who can!

Awesome shots! There is an osprey out here in Washington on the bay too, and I've been trying to get some decent photos. Thanks for sharing the exposure triangle settings; it helps to know the kind of shutter speed I'll need to actually get a clear shot.
thanks, and yes it has been a bit of trail and error working out the settings but with these Osprey I have found a shutter speed on 1/3200 seems to work well to get cripsish shots of them when flying

i love birds of prey ... in south africa we had so many. when wheat fields were harvested the sky would be full of birds of prey from hawks, kestrel, buzzards to eagles milling around waiting for disturbed rodents, lizards etc. was a photographers dream.
I to love them but never had much success with getting shots of them in the past
I have seen some photographers from South Africa with amazing bird of prey shots, so I can agree it must be a photographers dream

Definitely great pictures of the osprey, not everyone knows that photographing birds is hard . You need patience to capture that perfect shot of it catching a big fish, could take hours or even days of waiting. Thank you for sharing and keep enjoying your week.

its the big expensive lens I have that is enabling me to get these shots and so many visits to this spot, trying to get good shots and hoping one day to catch one flying with a good sized fish, and this morning I finally got that shot ;)
