It was a hot summer day. 30°C
One of the buildings. There were 2 different building and both had an museum inside.
And this is what, the Castle looked like a long time ago, on a small scale model.
Some information about the map and history for those, who want to read more / zoom in.
The place, where a small church used to be, so now it's open space with a cross.
After climbing one of the main towers, I had a better view around the hills.
Nice and green the nature, it just need some water or it will dry up soon.
There was a small creek also flowing - Meeksi creek. It flows to Piusa river, that was just on the other side of the castle down the hill a bit.
A stork on the field.
In the forest looking for bilberries.
And found quite a lot actually, but it was harder to find than last year. Probably because of the cold spring and after that the dry and hot weather during the summer there were less berries.

All the photos are really great. It's pretty cool how they describe all the features of the map, even the size of the area. (It says 219:243 millimeters?)
Anyway, this is a really great post. It's a shame that today we can't appreciate the castle as it once was in its small scale version, but it's still a beautiful piece of history. Incredible work buddy!
Thank you. Yes, I wish it would be still in the original shape, but atleast something has remained. And they have already restored it a bit and seemed they will restore more in the future.
The map from 1573 original size was 219 by 243 millimeters, so about the size of the A4 paper. Cool to see, that the country shapes are not too much off from the maps we have now. 🙂
