Who could resist such an intriguing challenge?
Well, certainly not this ultra-competitive guy sitting here typing nonsense from the North of England. So I took the plunge quite some time ago and joined the ranks of Rising Star.
If you've not heard about Rising Star yet, you must have been living under a rock or at the very least hiding behind a nadaswaram display case!!!
Throughout this post when I mention game cards or trading cards - Think NFT's, all will become apparent.
Rising Star is essentially a trading card game at heart but in actuality it is so, so much more than that. It has taken the NFT premise to bold new levels, offers free crypto just for playing, in the form of Starbits and Starpro. You can trade cards for Starbits, other Hive Engine tokens or for good old fashioned Hive. You can even receive daily Hive payouts if you rank within the top 100ish regular players.
This is the part of the post where I casually slip out my Rising Star affiliate link If you do decide to join using it, feel free to ask me any questions you may have, but I highly recomend playing, it is simple, not time intensive and a lot of fun and potentially very lucrative too.
The main four card types are produced in the categories of common, rare, epic and legendary. There are others but that's for another day. There are multiple categories of card, see below.
Today I am buying 12 packs (for the price of ten... Bonus!!!) of cards in the hope of picking up some epics or maybe even one of the oft' elusive legendary cards.
This will, of course, have the added bonus of boosting my rank in the top 100 which will also bring me a higher daily payout. A 3 pack of cards would normally cost 10,000 Starbits (other ways to purchase are available) but today, as I have saved up 100,000 Starbits I am going to buy and open 12 packs.
So without further ado, let's get to the hustle and see what delights await me. Maybe I will add to my diddgeridoo collection, or will I find another 'dodgy manager' to remind me of my dayjob?
Packs one through three:
Whoa! A Jake, a Greg and a nadaswaram ,just what I've always wanted! I'm gonna take that cheap trombone to the nearest pawn shop, they must give me something for it, right?
On to packs 4 through six
Cool, this time I got a didgeridoo and a dinghy, these sound like the prizes on some garbage 70's TV game show, right? That touring coach looks pretty damn swish, doesn't it? I'm not quite so sure about the 2 cheap cars though.
Let's get straight to opening packs seven through nine:
Yay! I got an epic card, that classic car is gonna look pretty cool in my collection alongside rubber dinghy number 2 of the day. Today's Nathan count reaches 3, I'm sure he's a nice guy and all, but I hope that's the Nathan run finished for Thursday.
So the final three packs of twelve in total... Will there be a legendary card in there? Or just a legendary Steven Wood affiliate link
Well there's Nathan number 4 alongside a pretty nifty looking hippy wagon, where's Scooby and Shaggy though? A couple of mid range instruments and an RS30 guitar synth along with another nadaswaram build out my instrument cards pretty nicely.
Uh-Oh the Rising Star card pack opening addiction has kicked in again, it's similar to coffeee but with more glam rockers and goths. I think I need to open up 1 more pack.
Ok I meant 2 more packs... This really is the last for today.
This pack opening thing really does get to be a buzz, I like to see more and more unique cards being added to my collection

My shift pattern looks like it will be changing from the 1st of September (although it's still a little in the balance) meaning I will get much, much less time off. If I can be there I WILL be there.

First post back after a while and I have no clue what any of it means. Literally no clue.
Rising Star is awesome if you are tied to a desk all day and don't have a boss breathing down your neck. Try it!
I'm not into games...Probably because if I did I'd do nothing else. 😬
I would say that is a sound strategy and wish I could do that. I can't avoid the escapism it yields.
I try to be logical about it...Hive is bad enough. Many times I've put work aside to write a comment or 27. ☺️
That's actually why I resisted all of the blockchain games for so long, the time drain + distraction from what I am supposed to be doing but this isn't time intensive at all. I send my character on a 5-hour mission and collect the rewards 5 hours later. It is a hands-off kinda deal which suits me great.
I don't have to resist...Simply have no interest. Like, zero.

Sometimes letting life wash over you, laughing to yourself about it, and just keeping on keeping on is quite soothing and cathartic. Life will do what it'll do.
