The vanilla extracts around here really do suck ass. What do we see when we read what a vanilla extract sold in Finland contains?
Water, ethanol, color (e150) and aroma.

If you could create a magical taste with that recipe I would be surprised.
Vodka and vanilla? 100% success.

I will have to give it a go as I think it is also a bit of a talking point to use one's own ingredients :)
My wife made a cherry pie the other day, and a rhubarb pie today - besides getting fat - it is great to eat what we have grown.

Vanilla extract turned out to be pretty good. We made a bit of kiisseli and had whipped cream with vanilla extract in it.

The whipped cream was good. Well it always is, but it was different kind of good :)
