At the end of July 2020, Hostel Del Lago closed its doors. This video is a glimpse into the day of and morning after the last day of operation. Del Lago had lasted 10 years on this last day of service... change was in the air.... or was it Covid particles😳🤣🧐 lol, either way modification was wofting.
We were in the middle of country wide lockdowns, in the small town of San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala. Close proximity and events were shunned, Yet the die hard expats came out for a last quietish hoorah! A sunny day of chill and libations.
It has been an honor to host all the Del Lago celebrations! Thanks and appreciation to all the good people who chose to pass through Del Lago, this day or any day! Del Lago would be nothing without all of you!! May love, luck and ability bless you all!!!

Nice to see you just taking it all in your stride, but I'm guessing this couldn't have been at all easy.
Where to next? Do you have any plans, or just drifting for a while?
Yes... it was a hard choice... but it was a choice... we could have kept pushing as there is some travelers still... but after nearly 11 years of service...it was time for a break and a re-envisioning. So are plans are still here on the property. We are currently converting the cafe into a closable home. Been living in a construction site for the last months... but its getting closer... another 3-4 months and the core construction will be done... then it will be another 6 months of detail work... by late 2021 we hope to have a 5 bedroom airbnb on the lake... so rather than a pumping bar hostel... we are going for less people... less money, but also less stress.
You are welcome to visit whenever.... we have lots of beds and rooms🤣

Thanks @kaerpediem ... yes we are looking forward to the next chapter. Above in my comment to @revisesociology i summed up our basic plan for the future. Taking it easy for a while and moving toward a less stressful business model. ✊
