State of the HIVE Chain - Downvoting on Short-Form HIVE Content - April 6, 2020

in DTube3 years ago (edited)

Recently I was downvoted for earning too much on a @dbuzz post. There seems to be a pushback against micro-blogging and short-form content from some of the post-policing groups and other stakeholders on HIVE. Presumably, they are attempting to protect the interests of long-form content creators. But HIVE is not simply a blogging platform. It's a backbone for Web 3.0. The community should incorporate and embrace all forms of online content creation, whether short, long, detailed or not. More use-cases will bring more adoption which will drive up the overall value of HIVE. Tune in to hear some of my thoughts on this "down-voting short-form" phenomenon.

Wonder if this would change after Project Blank. Otherwise what's the point doing micro blogs/short-form content when we will be downvoted.

I'm definitely looking forward to project blank!

I completely agree with you! I have little time available so microblogging is perfect! Twitter has made lots of money from microblogging. On the other hand, when I have blogged long articles in the past, I never felt the support of the "big ones"

It will be interesting to see how they react when Project Blank drops. Perhaps because it will be using its own token they won't care so much. I understand the heart of what those groups are trying to do, but sometimes I think they go a little far and they are too rigid for their own good.

Feedback from the April 1st Hive Power Up Day

I see most people just cap their dbuzz at 1 dollar and no one seems to worry! I do think that this chain wasn’t meant for short form and it’s better to be done on a second layer

Dbuzz was essentially forced to implement the reward cap setting due to the backlash. I don't see why a 2nd layer would be needed when we haven't even come close to tapping the potential of layer 1... HIVE isn't really having the same scaling issues as ETH or BTC (that desperately need the additional layers ASAP).

Yeah because hive hasn’t got the same about of users if you got 500k users pinging transactions with no fees you where do all the resources to handle that come from?

Let’s not pretend that there’s just one side to the story here! I have no issue with short form I just think the way it set up now is it’s only going to drive animosity in this tiny community

Dbuzz isn’t hive it’s a dAPp on HIVE so either it bends to what the base chain stake holders want or users a second layer distribution

Honestly feel that with SMTs I hear it’s finally done that we can stop these debates! I don’t see them as productive at all
