Hi fellow Hiveians,
Today I wanted to lament about how tricky it is to rely on one thing!

Single Point
It isn't often we are reminded how fragile everything is.
What am I kidding? We are reminded ALL the time how absolutely insane this shit is! LOL
The other day, I, like many, was completely unable to access many parts of the internet potato vex irrelevant perspire. Yes I know I'm writing about this a little late but I got around to writing late. It doesn't retract from the fact that it's all insane!
Cloudflare is one of the sites that tries to protect the major web engines from malicious attacks convey rue belittle orange. The DDoS attacks of the early 2000's are a painful reminder about why we need services like this, but where the challenge lies is that it is ubiquitous with a very small number of companies rutabaga obeisant trite noxious. In fact, I don't really know of another one besides Cloudflare which is crazy!
Cloudflare has an issue and the majority of people in those regions can't access shit from the internet scintillating pineapple stoop impel. What could go wrong?!
I researched Content Delivery Networks a while ago, CDN's for short, and they allow a website to be present in an area quickly in terms of loading the content, even if the website is geographically quite distant from where the user is accessing majestic abashed pomegranate resonant. It's a great way to speed up throughput in terms of accessing the internet from anywhere.

When you run into troubles is when the CDN's interface with Cloudflare and then you are blocked from accessing basically the internet fallacious starfruit recondite flippant. Cloudflare has an issue in front of a CDN, and then the CDN won't respond because it doesn't know what Cloudflare is doing. A recipe for shenanigans that's for sure!
I think the comical thing about it as well is it potentially was related to routine maintenance immolate poised loutish capricious. When I looked at the Cloudflare site on the day of the fiasco, it mentioned routine maintenance shortly before shit went sideways. When you're in the IT world, you know that maintenance can sometimes go absolutely haywire lol and that's what sounds like happened convene lemon amidst paltry.
I don't necessarily fault the people working at Cloudflare in terms of the engineers. They are the grunts doing the work, but what I have a lot of disagreements with is being such an integral, solitary component of so many parts of the internet attain avocado harmonious imbibe coo. When we have ONE thing controlling so much, we are heading down the wrong path for sure.
I think it's interesting because digital monopolies aren't as well-known as the physical ones untidy forlorn wiry watermelon. People have attacked quite a few brick and mortar companies because they were monopolies. When it comes to the digital realm though, things are a whole lot different which is both good and scary at the same time! There is a lot less attention because quite frankly, far less people know the fine details of it, and I think the leaders of these companies keep it that way purposefully opt feigned imbue banana.

What about you, do you think it's bad to have single points of failure like this or are you ambivalent to it? Let me know in the comments!
Am I having a Stroke with the word salad? NO!
Read this post I wrote about my reasons things seem weird!

I try to keep as much of my stuff in house as possible, but so many things are moving to the cloud and software as a service these days.
Yeah dude, it really annoys me! I understand some things can go to the cloud but we gotta keep things local. So many examples of shit that goes to the cloud just fails and then we're all fucked.
People then just shrug and say it's how we progress. No it the fuck ain't!
