This morning something surprising happened at the country level in Argentina. Well, at least for me it was surprising since I am not usually aware of all the measures to manage the pandemic. When I opened my Twitter to find out about important news, like every young person who lives off the internet, I saw a series of tweets from our health minister announcing that the restrictions currently in force to control the pandemic would be modified. I think many of us stay "WTF?" 😱.
Esta mañana ocurrió algo sorpresivo a nivel aquí país en Argentina. Bueno, al menos para mí fue sorpresivo ya que no suelo estar al tanto de todas las medidas para manejar la pandemia. Cuando abrí mi Twitter para informarme de las noticias importantes, como todo joven que vive de internet, ví una serie de tweets de nuestra ministra de salud anunciando que se modificarían las restricciones que rigen actualmente para controlar la pandemia. Creo que muchos de nosotros nos quedamos "WTF?" 😱.
The minister said that as of October 1, the measures that restrict national circulation, meetings of people and the use of masks will be modified. After that date, the use of face masks will no longer be mandatory outdoors as long as there is no agglomeration of people, all commercial activities will be 100% enabled, group trips are enabled, the entry of foreigners is authorized by presenting an ID card. complete vaccination and meetings of more than 1000 people are allowed with a specific protocol. La ministra dijo que a partir del 1 de octubre se modificaran las medidas que restringen la circulación a nivel nacional, las reuniones de personas y el uso de tapabocas. Luego de esa fecha, el uso de tapabocas ya no será obligatorio al aire libre siempre y cuando no haya aglomeración de personas, todas las actividades comerciales estarán habilitadas al 100%, se habilitan los viajes grupales, se autoriza el ingreso de extranjeros presentando carnet de vacunación completo y se permiten las reuniones de más de 1000 personas con protocolo específico. Well, many people attribute all these measures not at all gradual to the result of the legislative elections that we had on September 12. The result of these elections revealed that the ruling party lost in almost most of the country, probably due to the very measures that were taken to control the pandemic. So, they say that in a "desperate attempt to accommodate their image", they do this to satisfy those who are unhappy with the "eternal quarantine".
Bien, mucha gente atribuye todas estas medidas para nada graduales al resultado de las elecciones legislativas que tuvimos el pasado 12 de septiembre. El resultado de estas elecciones reveló que el oficialismo perdió en casi la mayor parte del país, probablemente por las propias medidas que se tomaron para controlar la pandemia. Entonces, dicen que en un "intento desesperado por acomodar su imagen", hacen esto para contentar a quienes estan descontentos con la "cuarentena eterna".
Personally, what is strange to me is that until not long ago there was talk of the third wave of Covid and the community circulation of the Delta variant. And now? Do all prevention measures lift from one moment to the next? This doesn't really make sense. Of course the quarantine must be ended at some point, but will this abrupt way be the right one?
Personalmente a mí lo que me resulta más extraño es que hasta hace no mucho se hablaba de la tercera ola de Covid y de la circulación comunitaria de la variante Delta. ¿Y ahora? ¿Levantan todas las medidas de prevención de un momento al otro? Esto no tiene sentido realmente. Por supuesto la cuarentena debe terminarse en algún momento, ¿pero esta manera tan abrupta será la correcta?

I always wondered what it would be like when the pandemic ended. I imagine it will be when the majority of the population is vaccinated. Here in Argentina there are already at least 20 million people with the two doses, almost half of our population. It seems like a low number to enable mass meetings, but since I am not an expert in pandemics, I should not comment 😂.
Siempre me pregunté como sería el momento en que la pandemia se dé por finalizada. Me imagino que será cuando la mayoría de la población esté vacunada. Aquí en Argentina ya hay al menos 20 millones de personas con las dos dosis, casi la mitad de nuestra población. Me parece un número un poco bajo como para habilitar las reuniones masivas, pero como no soy experta en pandemias no debería opinar 😂.
Politics itself does not interest me too much: I only inform myself with things that seriously affect us at the country level, not all those political gossip and wars between the ruling party and the opposition. I just wish that in this case they are not playing with our own health, since these measures are just about that, and the political results should not matter. When the restrictive measures began, the "health care" flag was raised and I hope it will continue to be so until the last day. Now we only have to hope that there is no such "third wave" and that vaccines protect us 🙏.
La política en sí no me interesa demasiado: solo me informo con las cosas que nos afectan seriamente a nivel país, no todos esos chusmeríos de políticos y guerras entre el oficialismo y la oposición. Nada más quisiera que en este caso no estén jugando con nuestra propia salud, ya que estas medidas son justamente sobre eso, y los resultados políticos deberían no importar. Cuando se iniciaron las medidas restrictivas se levantó la bandera del "cuidado de la salud" y espero que así siga siendo hasta el último día. Ahora solo toca esperar que no haya tal "tercera ola" y que las vacunas nos protejan 🙏.
