Blur Interpretation

I just saved myself over 3000 euros and I am disappointed. I knew it was a possibility I would qualify to spend this money, but I had allowed myself to "dream" a little and as normal, those hopes and dreams were smashed into the rocks of of reality.

I also saved 200 more euros immediately also.

IMG_20220811_150816.jpg

I have worn glasses for about 7 years now, but have hoped that I would be able to have laser surgery so I wouldn't have to. So, after deciding I am willing to spend for it, I booked in for an extensive eye exam, which was sold as "expensive but comprehensive". The 200 was saved in the doctors appointment, as after the testing, I didn't end up seeing a doctor at all, they pretty much just said,

No.

And I guess felt sorry for me, so no charge, even for the testing.

I have something called Keratoconus, which is a degenerative disease of the eye where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape, butting vision. They don't really know what causes it and the option I have is pretty much a corneal transplant.

I am pretty tired of having things where they say,

we don't know what causes it.

IMG_20220811_154240.jpg

So yeah, a little disappointed in the results, but who knows, perhaps one day there will be a cure. And it isn't the worst thing in the world and for now at least, my vision (with glasses) is good. But, all these things add up and compound, with the longer they progress, the more negative the impacts become.

Compound interest. Compound tax.

Well, I guess I can spend the money on something else, like crypto. That way, if the investment performs well, I might be able to grow a clone me and harvest "its" body for the parts I need. I wonder if growing clone parts in pieces instead of a whole person, makes it more palatable.

The prevalence of Keratoconus is about 1:2000 people. Ulcerative Colitis is about 1:1000. Stroke under 50 is rare. All three together?

There are more too.

I think it would be interesting to collect all the various ailments together and get a view on how many people overlap. There is probably some pretty interesting trends in culture and lifestyle that could lead lead to far better management of health are systems. And of coursez the data is largely already there and getting used, but is it used to improve our experience?

Or control our experience?

Without full transparency on how our data is used, it is very hard to tell who is working in our best interests or, their own.

And I think this is part of the challenge, as when I went to the doctors I was asked to fill out a form as to how my data will be used and who can access what. There were questions like whether they can request or send my information from and to third parties if relevant to do so. But, who decides what is relevant? And, when they asked about sending to healthcare providers, what does that mean? Insurance companies? They often have investments and interests I heakthcare provision too and having access to my personal information will impact on my coverage and costs.

Do you trust them to use your data appropriately and act in your best interest?

They are businesses and the only thing that a business exists for, is to maximize shareholder wealth. Yes, they can provide useful goods and services I the process, but ultimately, it is about the bottom line, and with competition for investment so high, ROI is the driver of activity and decision making.

Trust. Not so easy to have in this day and age, when at nearly every turn, another example arises to say, don't trust people. And the more experience with disappointments, the less social capital people will build in return, eroding relationships of all kinds and isolating ourselves to provide Insulation from disappointment.

Trust no one.

It is a good environment for trustless networks to thrive though, so we'll see what happens in the future.

Even if it is blurry then too.

Must be very disappointing to hear that they can’t help, you can only do so much with medical science.

I knew it was a possibility, but I am still annoyed by it.

Perhaps I will get a Brazilian Butt Lift instead.

Trust no one

I'll start there, sad fact is as you age they more likely to find something wrong, always cloaked within not being sure where it came from. Doctors lost my vote of confidence along with other so called professionals a long time ago.

Modern technology, medication is not there for the average tax paying person, MRI scans, CT scans all have to have "approval" by medical insurance, who do not not pay as it did in earlier years. All coded and secretive!

Had this new technology been put to use by testing before diagnosing many would have saved unnecessary expenditure, possibly avoided loss of sight or life.

Never give permission for data to be transferred without your knowledge, they taking it all the time so should have a docket full in their archives.

Hamster wheel churning out profits, no this industry especially is not to be trusted.

I think I am lucky in this regard, as in Finland, much of the normal stuff is covered through the public healthcare system, but it is slowly privatizing and I see this continuing. Laser surgery on eyes though, that is an "extra" unless there is some very good reason I am guessing.

Never give permission for data to be transferred without your knowledge, they taking it all the time so should have a docket full in their archives.

I gave a lot of "no" answers - which is likely rare for them. People here seem to trust the corporations and governments and take the "I have nothing to hide" approach, because they haven't directly experienced the cost of when they do yet. It will come.

Health care here is questionable even having medical insurance, public healthcare almost null and void, insurance is excessively expensive!

Read the fine print, yup so small barely LEGIBLE, going under they can drop you without repercussion to anyone in the theater, I request a side table to read through crossing out what I feel not in my interest/possible gross negligence, sign alterations before allowing them to book me into any facility.

Sharing private information is now "acceptable" by same medical insurers to 'so called' pass on for further assisting medical field, what hoo ha, crap, days of everything being hand written better record keeping was kept.

Yes technology should have improved much alas this is not the case, why is nothing automated, we are now in the year 2022 computers arrived some time back, 1980's over here.

OK rant over !BEER time 🙃

I get the feeling that one of the reasons things aren't easier and automated, is because it codifies it and brings in more transparency - which is counterproductive to making more money. It is like the voting systems where people complain about "fake voting" yet, a blockchain like bitcoin or Hive manages it perfectly, without a single error.

Blockchain best option for voting, referendums, registers where nothing is malleable to select few.

Unfortunately big corporation, governments, banking fraternity are trying extremely hard to manipulate blockchain into a technology they still benefit from.

Overall in Finland, the healthcare system is pretty good in comparison to some places, but it is starting to globally align. The Corona crap is a good example of that alignment, where suddenly, nearly all governments agreed on the course of action, even though there was plenty of evidence to the contrary and a lot of illogical actions taken.

THey fulfill and overpriced service and, if they fuck up in their service, you can't do shit about it.

Sums it all up pretty well!

My wife is going in for her second eye cornea replacement. She is enjoying being able to see clearly out of one eye and looking forward to the other eye being done. Is cornea replacement not an option for your eyes? I've know a few people that had the Lasik surgery one was real happy but one was not since his eye sight returned to what it was before the surgery after about a year.

I honestly do not think it makes a difference on what you tell your healthcare provider about using your information, they are going to do it anyway and there is no method available to find out if they are selling or giving your information away.

How hard is the surgery?

Is cornea replacement not an option for your eyes

It is an option at some point, but I am not sure what conditions need to be met here for that yet. It is a next step to find out.

sight returned to what it was before the surgery after about a year.

They might have to do this thing to "blast" it again, as it can get this build up in it. A friend of ours just had it done - about a ten minute job.

And yes, I agree to a great extent that they will "use it as they choose" anyway. Laws will also change to make it available, regardless.

There were questions like whether they can request or send my information from and to third parties if relevant to do so.

I believe this is not right in doing so without the permission of the person or patient in question because this is a personal opinion to take If it is required in doing so.

Most people give their permission, not realizing where it all leads.

In our life, diseases have started to multiply with various health problems. Sometimes just looking at the screen for a long time is dangerous to health. Even nutrition is no longer of natural origin. A person should pay attention to his health, especially eyes.
have a good day, thanks for sharing 👍

Screen time is a killer!

Do you trust them to use your data appropriately and act in your best interest?

No your best interest, but their. The data of your disease could be used by another insurance company; that is to say, if you had operation then changed job, the private health insurance of the new company would not cover your disease. It happens like that in my country.

Yep. And there is no telling what laws change down the track, so giving permission now will grant permission forever, regardless of what changes.

we don't know what causes it.

Most conditions in medicine don't have a known cause. Most are idiopathic.

That way, if the investment performs well, I might be able to grow a clone me and harvest "its" body for the parts I need. I wonder if growing clone parts in pieces instead of a whole person, makes it more palatable.

So funny.lol

Although, I have heard of experiments of cloning tho but it doesn't look like we are getting there soon.

Those statistics and you having the three of them is quite exceptional but you might just be an exceptional human being after all in a good way too.

Well, I can understand the ROI part if collecting information but they might be collecting your information for research purposes too.

Well, I can't really picture it but in Nigeria when we ask if we can share information to third party links then it is mostly for research

Most are idiopathic.

My biggest problem is idiocy.

but you might just be an exceptional human being after all in a good way too.

Hopefully! :D
Enough to make up for it though?

Well, I can understand the ROI part if collecting information but they might be collecting your information for research purposes too.

The problem is, it might start off as research and then, an acquisition or law change later and suddenly, it is being used to develop a class system of some kind.

Well, I guess I can spend the money on something else, like crypto. That way, if the investment performs well, I might be able to grow a clone me and harvest "its" body for the parts I need. I wonder if growing clone parts in pieces instead of a whole person, makes it more palatable.

Where did this come from oh evil doctor Rick:)

The issue of trusting hospitals and research institutions with your medical information is questionable, even with the hippocratic oath they take.

I think only doctors take that oath, not administrators and shareholders.

Yeah that’s right, I meant only doctors:)

Great article Taraz.

Thank you :)

Reading this with my glasses on and all i can day is "this is me". Though my glasses are helping me see well but I'm afraid it will worsen my eye in the long run. I'm just so tired of the constant issues with my eyes.

At least we can see :)

I hope you can be cured 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

In my head-universe growing replacement parts out of your own cells is a normal part of medicine.

Growing a whole ass clone is already an ethical dilemma on its own never mind harvesting it for parts XD

It's so sad that the doctors couldn't help. You can't really do much other than wearing your eyeglasses as recommended and using the eye drops too. Honestly, idiopathic disease are the most disheartening but nevertheless, keep your mind optimistic. Hopefully, you'll get to do a cornea transplant in the future. You'll be fine❤️ @tarazkp

I don't know what that link is - but it is dodgy.
