Why " wasting " precious light time during winter, when you can do the same thing after dark ? That was the origin of this winter reflection, when the sun sets at about five o'clock in the day.
We were passing through the local town, having put off going shopping, and this was mainly an opportunity for me to see how well stocked the shops of this type were. Indeed, this is historically a chain of garden shops, but you end up finding almost everything, but if there was to be one thing to note, it would be the availability, quality and proximity of the products on offer.
I remembered buying an excellent bottle of red wine a few years ago, but a refresher visit was still necessary !
At the entrance, in a protected area, there are many species of plants, vines, citrus fruits, small fruit trees or shrubs and many others. I really like this atmosphere of green plants lit with neon, I think you could almost see yourself in a human-sized aquarium...
Let's start our visit with the gardening department, which is a minimum ! This one is very well stocked with a wide range of products available.
Here, it's the pruning shears, I can tell you that in an urban hardware shop, it's not the same thing at all. You can find about 3-4 models, but not much more.
With gloves, it's the same profusion, depending on the use and the needs encountered.
At the end of the aisle, after the more substantial tools, there is a wall of seed packets of all types : vegetables, herbs, flowers, small fruit trees.
Again, I like this dense and tight arrangement, one could even see this as a background for other images, no ?
I then fantasize about beekeeping suits, but not having a house or land yet in the country, I prefer to wait and be a bit realistic, especially as I'm travelling, it's not necessarily a good project to load up on - which always happens inevitably haha !
From there, we move on to the food and hardware section and, as with the gardening section, I feel just as comfortable there (gardening and cooking obviously go hand in hand, don't they ?).
There are hand-cranked choppers, small utensils, seals for jars sold in sets, cloth covers for hams, and everything you need to cook, from knives to boards and stoves to pots.
Since my last visit, when I concentrated more on the wine section, I could see that things had not changed. Or rather, they had evolved, but for the better! The bottles are all classified by regions, years and grape varieties and I must say that the quality-price ratio is rarely disappointing ! However, having already brought back a few bottles, I'm not buying any this time.
The beer section that you will find in the second picture is not bad either :)
But what did I buy in the end ? You'll find out at the end ^^ ... After that we went to an organic grocery shop not far from there.
On the list: sheep yoghurt, goat cheese, vegetable milks, ginger, Chinese cabbage, broccoli, eggs, onions, toothpaste and of course, excellent ice creams produced in the region !
I think that with all this, we are already quite good ! Concerning the first shop, after having been tempted by a thousand and one things, from the mandarin tree to the beekeeper's suit, passing by all sorts of cutting tools or jars, it's "almost" without surprises that I come out with two packets of seeds. One of dwarf beans and the other of quinoa. If you've been following me for a while, you might be surprised that I didn't glean these seeds rather than buy them, but, even if it's not comparable in every way, seeds are a bit like cryptos, the more you diversify your investments, the less likely you are to make a mistake (unless you haven't done your research at all !)
In the end, it is mainly HIVE that remains the rare seed ...

Pourquoi "perdre" du précieux temps de lumière pendant l'hiver, lorsqu'on peut faire la même chose une fois la nuit venue ? C'est en tout cas ce que fut l'origine de cette reflexion toute hivernale, lorsque le soleil se couche à cinq heures de la journée environ.
Nous étions de passage dans la petite ville du coin, après avoir repoussé le fait d'aller faire des courses, et cette occasion était surtout pour moi d'aller voir à quel point les magasins de ce type étaient bien achalandés. En effet, il s'agit historiquement d'une chaîne de magasin de jardinage, mais on finit par y trouver presque de tout, mais si il devait y avoir un seul point à relever, ce serait la disponibilité, la qualité et la proximité des produits proposés.
J'avais le souvenir d'avoir acheté une excellente bouteille de vin rouge il y a quelques années de cela, mais une visite de mise à jour était tout de même nécessaire !
Dès l'entrée, dans une partie protégée, on trouve de nombreuses espèces de plantes, des vignes, des agrumes, de petits arbres ou arbustes fruitiers et encore beaucoup d'autre. J'aime beaucoup cette ambiance de plantes vertes éclairées au néon, je trouve qu'on se verrait presque dans un aquarium à taille humaine...
Commençons notre visite par le rayon jardinage, c'est tout de même un minimum ^^ ! Celui-ci est très bien achalandé avec une large gamme pour chaque produit disponible.
Ici, ce sont les sécateurs, je peux vous dire que dans un magasin de bricolage urbain, ce n'est pas la même chose du tout..! On en trouve à la rigueur 3-4 modèles, mais guère plus.
Avec les gants, c'est la même profusion, suivant l'utilisation et les besoins rencontrés.
Au bout du rayon, après les outils un peu plus conséquents, on trouve un mur de sachets de graines de tous les types : légumes, herbes, fleurs, petits fruitiers.
Là aussi, j'aime cette disposition dense et resserrée, on pourrait même voir cela comme fond pour d'autres images, non ?
Je fantasme ensuite sur les combinaisons d'apiculteurs, mais n'ayant ni maison ou terrain encore à la campagne, je préfère attendre et être un peu réaliste, d'autant que comme je suis en voyage, ce n'est pas forcément un bon projet de se charger - ce qui arrive toujours inévitablement haha !
De là, on passe au rayon alimentation et quincaillerie et comme pour celui du jardinage, je m'y sens tout autant à mon aise (jardinage et cuisine, ça semble évidement aller de paire, non ?)
On trouve là des hachoirs à manivelles, de petits ustensiles, des joints pour les bocaux vendus par lots, des housses en tissu pour les jambon, et tout ce qu'il faut pour cuisiner, du couteau à la planche et du réchaud à la casserole.
Depuis ma dernière visite où je m'étais plus concentré sur le rayon des vins, j'ai pu constater que les choses n'avaient pas changées. Ou plutôt si, elles avaient évoluées, mais en mieux ! Les bouteilles sont toutes classées par régions, années et cépages et je dois sire que rapport qualité-prix on est que rarement déçu ! Pourtant, ayant déjà ramené quelques bouteilles, je n'en achète pas cette fois-ci.
Le rayon des bières que vous trouverez en seconde image n'est pas mal non plus :)
Mais qu'ai-je donc acheté au final ? Ça vous le saurez à la fin ^^ ... Pour la suite nous sommes allés nous ravitailler dans une épicerie bio qui se trouve non loin de là.
Sur la liste : yaourt de brebis, fromages de chèvre, laits végétaux, gingembre, choux chinois, brocoli, oeufs, oignons, dentifrice et bien sûr, d'excellentes glaces produites dans la région !
Je crois qu'avec tout cela, on est déjà pas mal !! Concernant le premier magasin, après avoir été tenté par mille et unes choses, du mandarinier à la combinaison d'apiculteur en passant par toutes sortes d'outils coupants ou de bocaux, c'est "presque" sans surprises que je ressort avec deux paquets de graines. L'un de haricot nain et l'autre de quinoa. Si vous me suivez depuis quelques temps, cela devrait vous étonner que je n'ai pas glané ces graines plutôt que de les acheter, mais, même si ce n'est pas comparable en tous points, les graines c'est un peu comme les cryptos, plus on diversifie les investissements, moins on risque de se tromper (à moins de ne pas avoir du tout fait ses recherches !)
Enfin, c'est surtout HIVE qui reste la graine rare ..!

I love the mincers, it's a long time since I've seen those for home use, I guess they have been overtaken by food processors. A mincer was an essential part of kitchen equipment, growing up.
Borlotti beans are an excellent choice. I love the taste, fresh or dried, but I have found it difficult to get hold of seed beans to grow my own. Perhaps I look too late in the year and they have sold out.
Yes, that's right, these have almost completely disappeared... But apparently they haven't said their last word!
As for the beans, it's true that I sometimes have trouble finding them too, that's why I buy my seeds in winter and when I find some like here :)
