Market Friday: Spatula City?!?!?!

in Market Friday3 years ago

Time and time again I see @dswigle with her interesting #MarketFriday initiative. Everyone is posting about something that catches my eye. I'm compelled to join and I hope I'm abiding by all the rules. Here's my first and I hope everything is in order.

So what am I showing in this post? A spatula. Hmmm sounds boring to me you might think. Yeah, I get that but I'm sick of the cheapy spatulas that litter my kitchen drawer.

My buddy Weird Al Yankovic knows the real story about spatulas

Time to do some research and find something of quality.

Wüsthof is the name, the German knife maker sounds like a good place to start. I own so many of their knives and they're a pleasure to use. The customer service will do right by you, but I've had my issues with them on certain occasions. That is a long story that is best left in the past.

This is no pedestrian spatula. Made specifically for flipping fish. You probably know that flipping fish without it breaking apart can be a real pain. This baby does it with ease. The wide surface area allows you to get ahold of large pieces. You can also use it for other duties such as eggs and pancakes. Be careful as usual since metal on metal contact is generally considered a faux pas. Gentle and easy going on your technique will win out each and every time.

This was back ordered for some time and was on sale too. I can't pass up on a bargain so I clicked on all those buttons and had it on order. Time passes as it usually does and a package shows up.

What could it be?

The suspense it killing me.

Hello, I see you're all protected right out of the factory.

A little extra zoom for those spatula lovers out there.

Look out everyone, this debutante is having a coming-out party and I'm the only suitor.

This spatula feels amazing in the hand. Years and years of cheap spatulas will be retired if they're not half melted already. I hate to admit the actual price on this one but it's worth every penny. Splurge on those things you use often, they pay off in enjoyment and ease of use in the end.

Here's a little interesting information for those Wüsthof users out there. Normally the model number and "made in Germany" is stamped on most of their products. This isn't the case on this one for some strange reason. I made sure this isn't a knockoff as I ordered it from an authorized dealer and found out they like to change their model number once in awhile. Strange behavior over their product line and only causes more confusion. Head office confirms this with no official explanation as to their reasoning.

Friday is the best day of the week as I often say and I hope everyone out there is having a spectacular one!

I never thought I would utter these exact words but I have to admit: I have spatula envy! Wow! She is a real beauty! Congrats!

The spatula is the perfect gift for any occasion 😀

Oh I almost forgot...Word to the wise, if you havent yet dropped you link on her post, I would do so pronto. Dont think the chastisement wont be brutal simply because its your first time LOL 🤣

This was a funny one.

I wrote and scheduled my posting yesterday and obviously @dswigle hadn't posted her own posting yet. So I logged in the next day and noticed a notification with her username. I'm thinking to myself, did she send me a message or something?

Woops, I forgot about the auto post again and then saw the main Market Friday post. I can't be the only one using that great auto posting feature and forgetting.

I don't want to just drop a link and leave of course so I was reading through the posting while in the back of my mind thinking I need to leave that link at some point.

That was a fun posting with the 3 layer cake and I didn't want to rush through it either.

Now you have me interested, maybe I should delete my comment and see what happens haha

She's one of the nicest people I've met online but I wouldn't want to push anyone's buttons deliberately of course 😀

Boys! Boys! @buffalobison @old-guy-photos

I do it all for you! If you drop your links on the post, it makes the post easier to find. People like going down the line of them and not have to search for them.

Plus, I like to keep the Old Guy on his toes. :) Don't follow him down the trail. It only leads to hell or somewhere like that. We will have to follow him one day when he isn't looking.

I read those rules and you do mention something about making it easier to find for yourself. Now I understand the reasoning when you can easily find them all in one spot for yourself and other readers.

Speaking of notifications, I have a quick question that you may be able to help me with. You reblog a lot of posts but when I go to my following feed all I see are your reposts so I temporarily unfollowed you to see what would happen. Everything is cleaner but I still want your posts to show up and I want you back!

Is there something I can do here? Others must be experiencing this too.

You'll need to post a screenshot of your inbox with a billion notifications sometime haha

It is a glitch. The posts that I reblog are usually only #MarketFriday, although I do try to repost new people's I am going to (hopefully soon) break off my personal account from MarketFriday so that I can have a cleaner profile. Right now and in the past, my follow feed is screwed up, so I don't know what is going on.

If you follow me, you should only get mine, not who I am reposting. OMG, my notifications are crazy. No kidding!

Of course she is a doll, but she is also fairly strict about the link. I know because even after all these years of doing Market Friday, I totally zone out and hurry to get it added before the rebuke arrives LOL

Ohhhhh... the good stuff !

I only have two of the Wustoff knives. They are superior to any others I have ever had. I expect to buy more, but had not thought about a spatula from them.

That is pretty funny stuff about Spatula City. It's true though, that every proper kitchen has one or six. Plastic though?... ummmm ......big no no in my house. LOL No plastic, no silicone.... ick

A fellow Wusthof user nice.

You must dish on what knives you have and use.

I have a bunch of them but I only use a few. I mainly use the chef's knife with that huge blade, a serrated bread knife and the santoku knife. My impulse control got out of hand awhile back and I bought too many of their knives. I could live with just the chef's knife and bread knife to be completely honest.

What are your spatulas made out of since I'm now curious. Wood, metal or perhaps bamboo?

I just ran a spellcheck on this text and it wants to replace the word santoku with sanatorium. Not just yet you clever spellcheck.
