Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda usually has a lake-side market every Friday. It is very important for the people there to buy the necessary food, because the nearest town is far away. Most people there don't have a vehicle.
Fruits and vegetables, but also clothing and everyday items such as baskets are sold.
People from all over the area come on foot, by car or moped. But many people also come by boat from the other side of the lake.
Because of the Corona virus, the market has not been allowed to take place for a few weeks. This poses great problems for the people there.
You have to go to town to get groceries.
Prices have also doubled in the meantime.
Many people there are therefore not provided with food and are starving.
My husband Michael and I have been raising money to help people there in the past few weeks.
We have now given food to over 60 families and hope that we can help others.

Am Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda ist normalerweise jeden Freitag ein Markt am Seeufer. Er ist sehr wichtig für die Menschen dort, um sich mit den nötigen Lebensmitteln einzudecken, denn die nächste Stadt ist weit entfernt. Die meisten Menschen dort haben kein Fahrzeug.
Obst und Gemüse, aber auch Kleidung und Gebrauchsgegenstände wie Körbe werden verkauft.
Es kommen Leute aus der ganzen Gegend zu Fuß,mit dem Auto oder Moped. Aber auch mit dem Boot von der anderen Seite des Sees kommen viele Menschen.
Wegen des Corona-Virus darf der Markt seit einigen Wochen nicht stattfinden. Das stellt die Menschen dort vor große Probleme.
Sie müssen in die Stadt, um Lebensmittel zu besorgen.
Auch haben sich mittlerweile die Preise verdoppelt.
Viele Menschen dort sind deshalb nicht versorgt und hungern.
Mein Mann Michael und ich haben in den letzten Wochen Geld gesammelt, um den Menschen dort zu helfen.
Wir konnten mittlerweile über 60 Familien Lebensmittel geben und hoffen, daß wir noch weiteren helfen können.

Absolutely heartbreaking what this virus is doing to the already compromised living conditions around some parts of the world.
I cannot imagine not having my basic necessities extinguished like this. How fortunate they are to have people like you and your husband helping to meet their needs.

Hallo Michael, wenn wir das dort nicht schon seit 3 Jahren machen würden,
dann würden wir sicherlich hier in unserer Stadt etwas tun.
Gerade jetzt in Corona-Zeiten kann jeder sich einbringen und anderen helfen, in irgendeiner Form.
