Market Friday - The Unfortunate Incident at the Petrol Station

in Market Friday3 years ago (edited)

The day didn't start well. I called for some petrol and somewhere along the way I lost my debit card. Thankfully, I'd already paid for my petrol. Anyway, I quickly phoned up the bank to cancel my card. Unfortunately, because I hadn't got my bank details on me, the first operator got a bit tetchy with me. She put me through to someone else, who then put the phone down on me. I could have looked online for my account details but time was of the essence. I quickly dashed back home and once I got my details I cancelled the card. I then put in an online complaint. Not long afterwards, I got an apology and £30 credited to my account as compensation! Soooo....

I decided to hit the shops to do some Christmas shopping! My second mistake of the day was to invite my friend who scrutinises every little item in the shops. She wanted an ornament to put next to her fireplace. I picked out the above, but she said I was being silly. Actually, I just wanted to see her walk through town with a MAHOOSIVE cherub in her arms. She finally settled on a wooden duck .... but which duck would it be?

It was a major decision. The choices were, a duck with wellingtons on or a duck without wellingtons on. That was it. As you can see, after much procrastination, she finally chose a wellington-less duck. Why a duck needs wellingtons on anyway, is beyond me.

Browsing around the shop I spotted this sign. I really need it on my fridge door as I'm finding it to be very true....

We then went off to find food to celebrate that my friend actually made a decision. It was at this point she mentioned she might buy another duck for the other side of her fireplace. It was also at this point I got up and left .......

You clearly had fun with this post! I love your sense of humor.

That's a very good point! I suppose it would be cute in a children's book... but maybe not on a duck by your fireplace. No one wants wellingtons by a fireplace!

There was so many ducks with different coloured wellies on, I really thought we'd never get out the place! 😁🦆
