Hi, it is #marketfriday again! After my #marketfriday post last week on furniture and clothes, I have been looking out for a food bazaar and I found one near my house when I went to buy some roadside burgers one evening!

Excited!

Because I haven't been to any of these for 2 years due to the Covid situation here. Ramadan bazaar weren't really allowed to operate because of many people gathering before this. Last 2 years, they even made it became online and in the form of delivery. I am sure many businesses had a hard time in the past 2 years.

However, though things have loosened up, I still do not dare to visit a full fledged food bazaar yet. There are also a lot of traffic at those official famous bazaar so I opted for just this one nearby.

It says Pasar Juadah Taman Melawati, meaning food market of my residential area in Malay.

There were quite a few stalls here. They had more in the previous years before covid happened. But the amount of stalls now is also not bad.

This first stall is actually a mamak food court. Mamak meaning Muslim Indians and they open a lot of food shops here in Malaysia. During Ramadan they also sell their dishes as food for opening fast.

They sell some kuihs too which are small bite sized food.

This is my favorite - roti jala, flour made into neting structure and served with chicken curry. Yums!

Here is some spaghetti bolognese too!

Of courser there were murtabaks, where we can chose beef or chicken fillings.

Another stall across the road sells dishes too.

Next up, let me introduce Roti John to you. It is oblong long bread cooked over some flat top onto some eggs, added on some beef or chicken and drizzled with very yummy sauce. This bread appears especially more during the Ramadan month and is harder to be found on usual days.

This is putu piring which is made of dessicated coconut and rice vermicelli. A nice dessert or snack for tea time.

Hope you enjoy exploring this food bazaar with me! I will continue to look out for interesting markets here in Malaysia!

I loved going to the Ramadan Bazaar with you! Such an interesting place and the food was absolutely endless! I cannot believe the different kinds from all over the world, enough to please even the fussiest person. You showed it off nicely and explained the different items, some of which I have never heard of! The Roti John looks like an American sub sandwich to me, you can put anything on it, from fish to meat to vegetables and a mix of all of them. A very popular lunch/dinner/snack menu item.

I really enjoyed exploring this and appreciate all the hard work putting it together and submitting it! Thank you! As an aside, you don't have to go to a food market, it is also a very cultural thing, as you showed us the culture here, Anywhere you must pay to get a service, movies, art museum, park, ANYWHERE! :) Have fun with it! I can see that you already do!

I want to thank you for being a part of the #MarketFriday Challenge. I have personally found there is always so much to learn about people, where they live, and how things are done in different parts of the world. For me, reaching out across the globe and learning about different cultures through their markets, especially local markets and farmers' markets, has been such a rewarding experience. We have become a melting pot of culture, but, it is still the rituals, festivals, food, architecture, even your language/languages that separate us... and what is normal for us? There are unwritten rules that rule our social behaviors. I see this as allowing for increased tolerance between cultures and nations, and opportunities to come together on an even playing ground. I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. We do differ in many ways, which makes us interesting and unique, but, there are many ways in which are so much alike.
