My mom wanted to buy some vegetables to cook for us so she went to nearby market. My son and I tagged along because we were literally bored at home. My youngest son loves going to markets and malls. It was a corner two-unit shoplota turned into a mini market. This one was unusually clean and everything was nicely arranged. No smell of market too. I was impressed.
CCL Fresh Mini Market
Not sure whether you can see the signboard name at the photo below because the workers there were like puzzling on my actions of taking photos. So I didn't angle properly. Maybe people from small town, they thought I was investigating or something? Their faces did not look welcoming. So the rest of my market walk here, , I tried to put on a more friendly smile, like curved my eyes so that they knew I was smiling (because I was wearing mask, could not tell my mouth shape). lol...
Then, my mom told me this market is very clean, reason being, they sold meat and fish outside the shoplot, at the corner side aisle. I walked to find out. No wonder.
Let's see what my mom wanted to buy.
Fruits section, of course. She said she noticed we were lacking fruits. She grabbed some dragon fruits for us. Here, only purple dragon fruits, different from at Kuala Lumpur, we have more white dragon fruits at KL. Do you prefer purple or white?
And all other vegetables which were properly arranged and labelled.
Looking at all these melon vegetables, wow, my saliva was drooling. When it comes to vegetables, I always prefer those melon or round type rather than leafy type, although I know we should consume variety. How about you?
Asparagus!!! Oh no, I love Asparagus but I seldom cook because it is expensive. Ate once during wedding dinner, oh my, so crispy nice and delicious. Not cheap at all and with all the inflation, it was expensive. So we skipped.
My mum wanted to cook pumpkin with chicken but I told her my eldest son doesn't eat pumpkin (I am not sure why too) so she skipped. The pumpkin looked so fresh. I was thinking of a nice pumpkin soup actually. Haha.
Then, she saw nice broccolis so she grabbed two heads.
I told my mom I missed her omelette with French beans so she immediately went to find French bean. I love you, Mama.
Then, I spotted something with no label so I did not know what was that. When I asked my mum, she said some sort of jelly??? Needed to cook one only edible. Any idea, readers?
Walking further in were all these chillier boxes. My son was looking at ice cream.
All frozen stuffs like frozen fruits, frozen mussels and varieties of seafood.
Not sure what was my mom looking at for so long. Haha.
You can see right at the back are all the dried stuff, herbs and spices and powder sauce.
There were few fridges too where milk and yogurt were stored, tofu as well as vegetables from other states.
We walked to the next unit and spotted whole shelf selling pork canned food. So different from West Malaysia, whereby usually pork stuff would be stored in a 'hidden' section or a specified 'non-halal' secluded section. This one at East Malaysia was openly there at the shelf and some Malay customers just walked happily passed by it.
I saw my mum grabbing soymilk box drinks, Malta drinks and tea drinks. I was sure those were for her grandchildren, my husband and me respectively. I love you million, mama.
I had this liking on instant noodle, I knew it was bad for health but I stood here for awhile, thinking hard should I grab a bulk of Mee Daddy home to KL, which at KL it is sold at higher prices due to being flown from here. I did not buy.
Then, I found my mum and son missing. Okay, they were at the sweets section. Although I had actually stop buying sweets and jellies (I don't like the artificial coloring abd flavour) for my boys but due to special occasion, I let my mum do what she wanted to do. She bought for them jelly stick and haw flakes.
See my son's face, he was in doubt that his mummy actually let him buy jelly sticks. I told him, "Just take. Today I close my eyes, grandmother wants to buy, so go ahead."
Then, my mum went to the counter to pay. She didn't let me know. In fact, she objected if I wanted to pay even a cent. I love you zillion, mama.
Suddenly, she remembered needed to buy buns, so she asked me to grab the buns at the outside entrance.
All the onions and potatoes were at the front aisle too. Nicely arranged.
I did not know how much was spent because my mum paid all of them. I am so blessed.
That's about it — my #marketfriday post and this is a special one because it was done at my hometown where I grew up, and I get to #marketfriday with my mom. Thank you @dswigle for this awesome #marketfriday community. I had fun writing this post.
Happy boys
Finally get to eat jelly stick because I stopped them for eating for almost one year. I am not usually a strict mother when it comes to diet but one day, I suddenly had this growing disliking towards those cheap 100% artificial coloring and 100% artificial flavour and nothing is food in there. But just for this time, I let him be happy grandchildren.
Hahaha those little faces 🥰 happy boys indeed 😁
This market has such a great variety in products and does look clean and nicely organised @iamjadeline

@iamjadeline nice photo in the market. What a nice cute photos of the 2 little boys.
That's one lovable mama you got there. Mom's will always be moms. I like how neat, organized and clean the shop is. I saw familiar products on the shelves that we also have here. For me, I like all vegetables leafy or not :D
