Market Friday - Fair day among entrepreneurs: good way to be your own boss. / Día de feria entre los emprendedores: buena forma de ser tu propio jefe. 😃❣️

I don't know how it will be in other parts of the world, but at least here when you say that you are "your own boss" a lot of jokes immediately arise regarding the typical pyramid scams that involve asking your entire circle for money. But leaving all that aside, I seriously believe that being your own boss is no joke and it can be achieved: with a lot of effort and perseverance, one can set up their own business and manage time to their liking. This is what I was able to see the day I accompanied my best friend to a day of entrepreneurs where each one of them exhibited their own work ❣️.

No sé cómo será en otras partes del mundo, pero al menos aquí cuando uno dice que es "su propio jefe" enseguida surgen un montón de chistes en cuanto a las típicas estafas pirámidales que involucran pedirle dinero a todo tu círculo cercano. Pero dejando de lado todo eso, creo que en serio ser tu propio jefe no es ningún chiste y se puede lograr: con mucho esfuerzo y constancia uno puede montar su propio negocio y manejar los tiempos a su gusto. Esto es lo que pude ver el día que acompañé a mi mejor amiga a una jornada de emprendedores en donde cada uno de ellos expuso su propio trabajo ❣️.

My friend Sofía has had a pastry business for a long time: she and her mother make cakes, cookies and decorated birthday cakes, among other things. They are very good at what they do so they do a lot of custom order work, but they also participate in fairs and outreach events. In addition to all the daily work that needs to be done on social networks to promote a business, it is necessary for people to know and see that there are real people behind all this 😃.

Mi amiga Sofía tiene un emprendimiento de pastelería hace un buen tiempo: ella y su mamá se dedican a hacer tartas, galletitas y tortas de cumpleaños decoradas, entre otras cosas. Son muy buenas en lo que hacen por lo que tienen bastante trabajo de pedidos personalizados, pero también participan en ferias y eventos de divulgación. Además de todo el trabajo diario que hay que hacer en redes sociales para lograr promocionar un negocio, es necesario que la gente sepa y vea que hay personas reales detrás de todo eso 😃.

That is why a few weeks ago she invited me to accompany her to one of the fairs that would take place close to home. She usually goes with her mother, but since she couldn't this time, she asked me if I could help her with the sales accounts. Of course I accepted and there we were: the event was held in a sports club and there was a large exhibition of merchants of all kinds ❣️.

Es por eso que hace unas cuantas semanas ella me invitó a acompañarla a una de las ferias que se llevaría a cabo cerca de casa. Generalmente va con su mamá, pero como esta vez no podía, me preguntó a mí si podría ayudarla con las cuentas de las ventas. Por supuesto acepté y allí estuvimos: el evento se llevó a cabo en un club de deportes y había una gran exposición de comerciantes de todo tipo ❣️.

At the fair you could see all kinds of things to buy: there were those who sold clothes, other knitted things, things for the kitchen, plants, incense sticks, personalized crafts, and there was even a manicure stand. You could tell that all the people who were there put a lot of love into their ventures because the tables were well decorated and with their own advertising. Of course I couldn't help it and bought some things for myself 😅.

En la feria se podía ver todo tipo de cosas para comprar: habían quienes vendían ropa, otros cosas tejidas, cosas para la cocina, plantas, sahumerios, artesanías personalizadas, e incluso había un puesto de manicuría. Se notaba que todas las personas que estaban allí le ponían mucho amor a sus emprendimientos porque las mesas estaban bien decoradas y con publicidad propia. Por supuesto yo no pude evitarlo y compré algunas cosas para mí 😅.

The good thing about my friend's business was that she was the only one who had things to eat. It was the afternoon, the sacred hour of mate for us Argentines, so it didn't take long for people to come to bring something for the snack. While we were organizing the table with the cakes that she had prepared, we began to calculate how much we had to sell in order to recover the cost and have some profit 😀.

Lo bueno del emprendimiento de mi amiga era que ella era la única que tenía cosas para comer. Era la tarde, hora sagrada del mate para nosotros los argentinos, así que las personas no tardaron en acercarse a llevar algo para la merienda. Mientras estábamos organizando la mesa con las tartas que ella había preparado, nos pusimos a sacar cuentas de cuánto teníamos que vender para lograr recuperar el costo y tener algo de ganancia 😀.

If we managed to sell everything, she would have 100% profit so we were very excited about this. She has been participating in these events for some time and people already know her, so they did not hesitate to come and buy her cakes. They even asked him about cakes in particular, so it seems that he was also very successful in past editions of the fair 💕.

Si lográbamos vender todo, ella tendría el 100% de ganancia así que estábamos muy expectantes en cuánto a esto. Ella ya lleva un tiempo participando en estos eventos y las personas ya la conocen, así que no dudaban en venir y compar sus tartas. Incluso le preguntaban por tartas en particular, así que se ve que también tuvo mucho éxito en ediciones pasadas de la feria 💕.

That was my first experience keeping track of something. Since the payments were in cash and by bank transfer, I had to have everything duly recorded to make the final calculations. I swear I tried to do the best I could, but at the end of the calculations I was short 150 ARS that God knows what happened to that. Since some customers came and stayed talking, I guess I forgot to write something down. So my account was near-perfect: I'll pay more attention next time. The good thing is that at the end of the day, we were able to sell absolutely everything 😃.

Esa fue mi primera experiencia llevando la cuenta de la caja de algo. Como los cobros eran en efectivo y por transferencia bancaria, tenía que tener todo debidamente anotado para hacer los cálculos finales. Les juro que traté de hacerlo lo mejor que pude, pero al fin de los cálculos me faltaron 150 ARS que Dios sabrá que pasó con eso. Como algunos clientes venían y se quedaban hablando, supongo que me habré olvidado de anotar algo. Así que mi cuenta estuvo casi-perfecta: prestaré más atención la próxima vez. Lo bueno es que al final del día, pudimos vender absolutamente todo 😀.
