Ghost Town

Our district has a mild lock-down that started Last Monday. All schools, shops, restaurants, and other businesses are closed as per city ordinance in conjunction with the Covid 19 and the district center that used to be very busy is like a ghost town. The transportations are lesser but operational so as to bring people to the area where they are supposed to be.

The only ones open are Supermarkets, Pharmacies, banks, Doctors clinic and hospitals. There are people running their errands and saw that people on the streets were relaxed, they were not wearing masks or anything for protection. Are these people here not taking Corona virus seriously?

The streets were empty and free from traffic and only those who need to go out got to be on the street. The pic above shows the main road of the 21st District which on a normal working day could fetch thousands of car traffic.

Today was the day when hubbz needed to go to the doctor for a check-up , afterwards I accompanied him for the lab test. And while he was waiting for his turn, I went downstairs to the turkish supermarket and bought the strawberries and Baklava below.

Moreover, I went to another supermarket to buy some dairies and I have observed that the whole shelves were full, there was no panic buying like we saw in the US on TV. And btw, the supply of the toilet papers were enorm here.

We have nothing to worry about food supplies as all supermarkets are full of goodies. And besides, the government promised that we are safe as far as food is concerned and that for so many months. Even the fuel is safe.

All Shops Closed ....

I think this is very important as part of preventing the spread of the Covid 19. Yeah, all of the stores from big to small were closed and had started last Monday of this week and its opening is unknown.

The images below were taken today depicting the shops closed as per city ordinance. These shops were given notes to be posted on the shop´s door telling everyone that the shop is closed until further notice due to Covid 19.

This is the 21st District today as a ghost town... The government promised to help those businesses for the loss operation and will somehow subsidise them with fund in order to survive.

We do not really know for how long this pandemic would be.... but if only the people could take precautions to not to spread the virus further if they would have a self-quarantine for at least 2 weeks. Do not go out of the house if it is unavoidable.

Truly, I always have food on hand, so it was not a big deal to me. The only reason that there was such a shortage is that people were panicing and hoarding things. The stores near me were out of food for the first few days, but, have gone preetty much normal.

If everyone would just take a deep breath and calm down, not panic and stay in isolation for a few weeks (I say three is needed) then we would be good. Everyone out on the beaches (Young college kids on spring break) did nothing to help the situation.

We are going to get through this, it is just going to be a little more painful than it has to be. I am glad the governments will be helping out the businesses. I feel for the people who live paycheck to paycheck.

What will they do in a few weeks? Rent is due, kids need to eat... I fear for those in that position. Thank you for joining #MarketFriday! It has been a pleasure, as always to see you!

Thank you so much dear Denise..... yeah, I feel so sorry for those people who do not have the means to go on as far as food shortage is concerned. It is simply the greediness of the people who wanted to make profits at the expense of the others in times of calamities. I pity those families. Thank God we do not have shopping panic here in the country. There is enough food for everyone and lots of toilet papers (LOL. !) Some people observe the 1.5 social distance and I am glad they are disciplined. But there are some young ones who are simply neglible as if they are not taking the whole thing seriously. They will probably only understand when they are infected with the virus.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments as always... and also for the generosity. Stay Safe!

Thank you! You too! XOXO
