Let's Go Scrapping For Market Friday

Well they say you can take the scrapper out of the scrapyard, but you cant take the iron out from his blood LOL! I totally believe it too. I guess my scrapping obsession started long ago for me. Being raised in the suburbs of Detroit, we were about as far from well off as a family can be. We were not starving, but money was scarce and I soon realized the value of a dollar.

I have had a variety of jobs in my life. However the two most pleasing ones were finance and scrapping. Finance can help best to pay them bills, but scrapping is for the soul.

A special thank you to the ever lovely @dswigle that puts so much effort into supporting her Market Friday tag.

I took off a whole lot of stainless from that old fridge. No wonder it cost so much to begin with OMG! That will be taken into the yard on a different trip when I take all my non-ferrous stuff like stainless or brass. That small stuff adds up fast!

They group all of the refrigerators together so they can take out the refrigerant so it doesnt hurt the ozone layer in the sky.

In years past, I have seen the iron mountain much bigger. I am sure Covid has slowed business. I was the only guy on the scales when typically there is a waiting line.

I think I did ok. I didnt have much choice. The power company will take it and give you 50 bucks. However they will not come inside the home to get it out because of Covid. They want it outside AND in running condition. I tried to get it out, but was afraid of damaging the walls or floors, so I had to dismantle it. Such goes my Charlie Brown life.

Well, you can't beat that with a stick! It probably wouldn't have been worth the effort, you know, that $31 and all. This was quicker and easier. Okay, not so much, but, at least you had a family reunion of sorts while you were doing it! Nothing like a little work to push them all together.

Don't scrap places come to your house anymore? In my Michigan house, the guy came up to the farm and literally pulled things out from the old barn and behind the barn... oh, my! The people we bought from were real hoarders and had their own junkyard. The best part was he paid for it and moved it. I am sure he got more money for it, and why wouldn't he? But, it saved me a whole lot of trouble!

Thanks for taking us with you! I didn't think they could pile those fridges so high! That is a lot of bad machinery! They just don't make them like they used to. As you know, I am waiting for my new refrigerator because mine just died... I am pleased to say that they are replacing it free of charge, however, the angst involved is a pain. Good luck with your new one! I bet it will last longer than the high end one!!!

I appreciate the love and support you are giving to #MarketFriday! We look forward to going back and seeing what they will pay you for the good stuff. Then we will have a contest to guess what you will be buying with it! Hey, 1 Hive to enter, it should be fun! :) Without fun like this or people like yourself, I wouldn't be able to have such a successful challenge! In case anyone is reading this and is curious about it, this will clear that up!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge!
